5 Second Abs .. 2 Quick Questions
Dear Friend,
Over the last month two questions about the
proper technique of 5 Second Abs have emerged.
Well, let me take that back - there are 3 questions.
The first is: Which exercise in Combat Abs is
the "5 Second Abs" deepbreathing gut-flattener
Answer: The Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener (although
the vacuum can be classified as such for the beginner as
well).
Second question: How do you make the "sssss" sound
when doing the Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener?
Answer: In the Combat Abs I say to make the "ssss" sound
with your mouth closed. True. Yet, I did NOT say to make it
with your "lips sealed." Simply put your teeth together and
make the sound. Nothing special. No big deal. A child can
learn to do it ... and FAST!
As an aside, when you make the "sssss" sound while doing the
Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener, you are bringing extra health
and vitality to your lungs. Much more than if you simply exhale
in the standard fashion.
His secret: The breathing exercises in Combat Abs
Sounds strange, I know - but you will feel a different type of
energy radiating through your upper body when you make an
"sssss" sound as opposed to a standard exhale. And we have
the Chinese to thank for figuring this esoteric sort of thing out.
More on this in the future, if you're interested.
Question Three: Why do you call the Farmer Burns Stomach
Flattener "5 Second Abs" when one repetition of the entire
exercise often takes me 15 seconds?
Answer: The "work" portion of the Farmer Burns Stomach
Flattener takes 2 to 5 seconds. Although you do have to
inhale before squeezing the abs - the inhale isn't the "work"
part of the exercise. You have to inhale anyway, don't you?
It's the flexing that is voluntarily done. So it's the flexing that
we're counting.
Important: For those who are beginning, I often recommend
only 2 seconds of flexing (not 5). Don't try to be a he-man
or she-woman right away. Start with 2 seconds!! As you get
stronger, you can go to 5 seconds.
Also, you CAN integrate this extraordinary abdominal flexing
system into the powerful exercises found in Combat Conditioning especially
with the wall chair, front bridge, Hindu pushups, headstand and
so on.
Alrighty then ... time for me to shove off. Got to go makes some
"sssss" sounds myself.

Kick butt - take names!
