The Importance of Killing
Listen to this tip now
Dear Friend,
Have a good friend, Larry, who lives in New Mexico who would never
deliberately hurt anyone or anything. Not even a spider. Twas part of
his upbringing. Part of an upbringing that recently underwent a major
change. I'll tell you why in a moment.
But first, many people in the world regard Larry as a spiritual master,
as do I. That's why, early last Spring, I felt an overwhelming urge to
extend a personal invitation to Larry and his wife to come spend a day
with me, in my home. Along with our wives and children, Larry and I spent
the entire day telling each other stories - most of which were loaded to the
gills with life-changing information.
At various times during the day, either he or I took out a notepad
and scribbled notes as quickly as we could. I especially loved the
story Larry told about the day he attended a Milton Erickson (a legend
to many) seminar and took a front row seat.
Larry quickly observed how Erickson gained rapport with people in the
audience; how he was able to raise or lower his heart rate to match
the person he was talking to. Little did Erickson know, though, that
Larry was way beyond this sort of thing. And so, when Erickson put
his focus on the man I refer to as "Lama" - he quickly found his resting
pulse shooting up to 160 - where Larry's was.
Unable to discern what had happened, Erickson looked at Larry and
smiled, knowing that he was in the presence of another master. The
two became friends and Erickson spent many days with Larry.
Although a martial artist for much of his life, Larry has never even
thought of using his skills to kill someone - or something. He's one of the
kindest souls you'll ever meet. And unlike myself, throughout Larry's entire
life, he has literally left "nature" alone.
All that changed last April when, while sleeping, Larry was bitten by a spider -
and not just once.
Several times.
Now, because one of the bites was to the back of the neck, Larry is truly
lucky he didn't die. And I'm not exaggerating.
On the morning of May 5, when my baby girl, Faith, was born, for some odd
reason I felt compelled to call Larry first. As I hadn't known Larry very long,
this was definitely not normal for me. I really didn't understand "why" - but I
went with the flow.
During the call I was unable to say much - it was an emotional moment for me.
We spoke for a minute and I hung up.
This morning I looked in my "personal" email folder - the one that only a few
people have access to - and there was a note from Larry. Although I
will not share the majority of it, I'd like to relay a portion with you:
"Matt,
It does not escape me that the first indication of full recovery happened to
be on Faith's and your birthday ... and that I was lucid during the time your
wonderful phone call came in with your new father voice on the other end.
That is an honored memory. There is one source of energy that I wish to
acknowledge that truly stands out. I often replay the part of your May 5th
call [before we could pick up] that gives us the arrival of "Faith" and well-
being of your wife, Zhannie.
MATT, MY FRIEND, YOUR VOICE HAS A HEALING POWER YOU MIGHT NOT
EXPECT. I am grateful that my brain worked on that day and I could hear you.
I now kill spiders daily."
M.F.: Larry, I am deeply touched to know I played a role in your recovery.
You're going to come back stronger than before. And your willingness to kill
spiders is all the evidence I need. As the name of my daughter implies, I have
full "FAITH" in you. You have great things to do - and no spider, dead or alive,
can or will keep you from your mission. At same time, remove all obstacles so
the ride is smooth. Last of all, in the words of an anonymous Floridian sage, "If
you see a spider walking along the road, kill it."
Well, my friend, I hope this little story adds a bit of spice to your day. It
might even give you the idea to give a friend a call. Who knows? It might
be a call that gives him or her the strength and faith to persevere when times
are tough.
Kick butt - Take Names!
P.S. Follow my Combat Conditioning program and you'll be able to
leap tall buildings in a single bound. And you'll have the confidence
and faith to whoop all living creatures, including nasty spiders. Go here and order now.
