Leaving Las Vegas
Dear Friend,
Getting ready to leave Las Vegas. Tis one
of my favorite cities to visit - and shop.
To hang out in Las Vegas is to get a major
dose of what can be done when you use
your creative imagination - and when you
open your eyes and observe.
Funny thing I've noticed, though, is that
even when you're surrounded by an entirely
new reality, where you can sit back, observe
and learn - most of the people who live here
don't know the first thing about using their own
creative imagination to accomplish what they
want in life.
In fact, whenever a couple people I coach
went out to eat, I'd ask the waitress where
she was from. After she gave the answer,
I followed up with, "How long have you lived
here."
This question was followed by, "How do you
like it here."
Almost all of the girls I asked gave answers like,
"Oh, it's allright." That's code for "I don't like it."
Or they'd say, "Unnhhh, not so much."
Or something similar.
Most of the time I was then queried about where
I live. When I gave the answer the girl almost
always said, "Oh, that's a great place. I've been
there before. I love it there."
"Well, why don't you move there, then," I said.
"If you don't like it here, go somewhere else."
This question literally stumped 'em.
Yet, it shouldn't. In Vegas, you are surrounded by
constant and continuous change. Sure, you're
around a lot of sleaze, too - but the same can
be found almost anywhere - especially these
days with a push of the button on the Internet.
This goes to show that you will find what you're
looking for - or you'll be drawn to that which
you're thinking about most of the time.
The unhappy people spend most of their time
thinking about what they don't like. Yet, because
there's no follow-up question, such as, "Well then,
what do I really, really want" - there is no forward
movement.
Yet, those on the side of the creative explosion in Las Vegas
are not sitting around talking about how much they
don't like the world. They're figuring out ways to
make it even better - for themselves and others.
That's a good idea for everyone, me thinks.
Kick butt - take names,
