Bruce Lee's Written Goal

A good friend sent me the following goal, written by the legendary
Bruce Lee:

"I, Bruce Lee, will be the highest paid Oriental superstar in the United
States. In return, I will give the most exciting performances and render
the best quality in the capacity of an actor. Starting in 1970, I will achieve
world fame and from then onward till the end of 1989 I will have in my
possession $10,000,000. Then I will live the way I please and achieve
inner harmony and happiness."

Pretty amazing, isn't it.

Unbenownst to many, Bruce Lee studied self-help literature in a big,
big way. He visualized. He set goals. He imagined the life he wanted.

Yet, as I look upon Lee's written goal, I want to make a couple comments
that I think will prove helpful to you:

1. The first part of his goal is definite and clear. This gives it power.

2. Following the advice of Napoleon Hill, Lee states what he will render
in return for the money. This is key.

3. Lee's final statement, however, "Then I will live the way I please and
achieve inner harmony and happiness" - might not be something you'd
want to repeat in your own achievement process.

I'll reveal why to members of the Psycho-Cybernetics Success Group in the
March 2007 edition of their newsletter and CD. This edition is NOT something
to miss. It will give you the secret to harmony and happiness NOW - not in
the future.

Be sure to subscribe right away so you don't miss this.

100 Years of Grrrreat Health

One of the fittest 58-year old men you will ever meet, Nigel
Stewart, of Bermuda, recently said the following about the
Chinese Long-Life System:

'if any of you guys out there have not got this program you are really
missing out. ( NO I'm not touting for Matt and I don't think I'll receive
a commission for this e-mail).

I received the DVDs 10 days ago and have held off writing until I have
something to report.

I use it in the early morning when I get up and before I do my Combat
Conditioning workout. I just cannot fathom how something so subtle can
be so effective.

I always workout early mornings and being human there are days when
I would rather not, however after doing the various massages and slapping
movements it is like I have switched on from inside out. Tiredness and the
early mornning feeling just go .

It is difficult to describe but I think Matt puts it best on the DVDs when he says
it will 'ease' your passage through life. It gets everything inside working the
way it should.

Once again Matt a huge thank you for bringing this wonderful art to us. No wonder
the Chinese were experimenting with gunpowder when our ancestors were still
living in caves.

I say the same thing I said when I bought the original Combat Conditioning book...It's Magic.

Best to you all
Nigel Stewart

M.F. Thank YOU Nigel. This is a huge compliment coming from you. Afterall, how many
men at age 58, much less ANY age can do what you do. For those of you in the 'dark' on
this, Nigel regularly gets up and pounds out 500 Hindu Squats, 250 pushups and runs
several miles per day. He is an animal, through and through. No greater testimonial
than his - yet.

P.S. By the way, my mother-in-law is in her 60's and has no interest in exercise
other than walking. But upon seeing the Chinese Long-Life System, she jumped
on it immediately. She's been following it religiously for months and she literally
glows from head to toe. It has given her physical strength as well as internal.
She truly looks at least five years younger already. She keeps this up and
there's no telling how much benefit she'll derive. Order NOW by going to

Serious as a Heart Attack

Two days ago I wrote, 'You can have a lean, ripped 3% bodyfat with bulging
biceps - but put just one of your vital organs in a compromised state and your
look does nothing.'

'The Chinese figured this out eons ago. Strengthen the internal organs and you
also strengthen the external body. Simultaneously strengthening the internal and
the external body is the key to life-long health.'

When my brother Sean read the above he said, 'Ain't that the truth.'

Sean knows this very well because a few years back he had a heart attack.

Anyone who has ever passed a kidney stone, contracted a stomach virus,
gotten the flu - or anything of the sort - these people know that you are virtually
incapable of doing much at all.

The exercises I teach in Combat Conditioning and Combat Abs strengthen you
internally and externally. They build the muscles and they strengthen the internal
organs.

But the exercises in the Chinese Long-Life System go a step beyond in terms of
their development of your internal system. They help open all the meridians in
the body, thereby invigorating and rejuvenating everything from your brain to
your heart, kidneys, lungs, spleen, stomach, liver and so on.

Who among us can claim that he doesn't need strong internal organs.

Only a fool.

Who among us thinks he can live to be 100 in great health without strong internal organs.

Only an imbecile.

The other day I man wrote and said he wanted the program but wasn't going to pay
the $249 I'm asking. I didn't respond personally but I will now. If you follow the system
and live another 10 years in superior health, that's only an additional $24.90 per year.
If your health isn't worth that pittance, then pinch your pennies and take your chances.
You will not hurt me by refusing to get my product; but you very well may be hurting
yourself.

In China, throughout all the parks you will find men and women in their 70's, 80's and 90's
exercising each day. The 89-year old lady that I trained with on my most recent trip
could still run and move her body like a youngster. That doesn't happen by accident.
She never misses a day training in the Chinese Long-Life System. And she's not alone.

When I'm 89 I want to be able to train just like she does. I want to be able to walk and run
like the wind. I want to be vibrantly alive. And I want to be the same way when I'm 100.

That's why I train every morning, first thing, with the Chinese Long Life System. Like all
my other products, this system is not just something I sell. It is something I LIVE. If I
didn't believe in it; if I wasn't absolutely convinced that this was something that would help
many, many people - myself included, I wouldn't have put it on the market.

And that's the truth.

If I wanted to I could sell the plethora of junk seen on infomercials (by the way, some of
it is GOOD - it's not ALL junk); but I don't. If I wanted to I could be selling drugs; but I
don't.

I only put forward that which I wholeheartedly believe in. And the Chinese Long-Life
System fits that bill.

If you're not interested in this new system, then begin with Combat Conditioning or
Combat Abs by going to http://www.mattfurey.com/products.html

Too Busy for Exercise

I'm too busy for exercise. That's the line
I used to hear when I was a personal trainer
in California.

I'd love to work out today but I'm too busy; got
too much to do. Strapped for time.

I can relate with this excuse. It's an insidious one.
It creeps up on you, gets a hold of you to miss a
day or two - and pretty soon a week, a month, a
year - even several years go by.

Meanwhile, this entity called 'your body' is rusting
out from lack of use. You're getting unhealthier by
the moment, but you think it's okay because you're
'busy.'

It's not a good idea to make this excuse. And believe me,
I must be on guard on this topic, too. Especially this month
and next.

Right now I'm preparing for three big seminars. Not only
that but I write three monthly newsletters, make two monthly
CDs, coach over 100 people, write a couple daily emails - and so on.

Yesterday I was up early and moving. Had so much to
do. Got a lot done - but there's always more - and when
it was time to train, I thought about taking the day off. But I
didn't. I fought off the temptation and as a result, got
MORE done, not less.

For every 15 minutes you spend following my fitness program
you get a couple hours of increased productivity in return. Sometimes
even more. That's why I don't like to miss. That's why I like to
terminate any excuse my mind can manufacture.

Sometimes we think we're doing the right thing when we blow
off training for some other purpose, but there is rarely ever
a good reason. And you're made aware of this truth when your
workout is over and you feel the positive results of taking a
minute for yourself. Negative stress gone. Endorphins rushing
throughout your body. Good feelings overall.

I say 'Let the rest of the world wait.' When it's time for YOU - it's time
for YOU. Stop making everyone else more important than your-
self. You're important, too. And you come first.

Follow my Combat Conditioning program so you
can truly appreciate the wonders of exercising like a champ. There's a
reaons why I say you're not too busy for exercise. Follow my program
and you'll understand.

How Nothing Can Stop You

Just returned from the Wealth Cruise - hosted by
friend and fellow MasterMind member, Todd Dotson.

This was my first-ever cruise - so I took my wife,
kids and in-laws. Figured it would be a great way to
celebrate Chinese New Year - and twas.

One of the greatest moments of the cruise is sort of
an "inside secret" - but it has to do with that familiar
phrase I use so often - "rise above" circumstances.

One of the speakers, Loral Langmeier, author of the
best-seller, The Millionaire Maker - spoke before
we boarded the ship - and did so with great skill, in
spite of having something urgent that needed her
attention back home.

You wouldn't have known she was having something
ELSE going on. She's a true professional. Brought in
to do a job and do it she will - no matter what.

She was unable to board the ship as she had to rush
back home - so her assistant, Rebecca, who NEVER
speaks in public, filled in for her. And she didn't just
fill in - she WOW'd the crowd. It was truly awesome to
witness this.

Kendra Todd - the first and only female winner of
The Apprentice was magnificent. One of the many,
many brilliant things she did was address an objection
many people have about her, right away.

Kendra is only 28. Young, gorgeous and spunky - she's
still wise enough to know that people in the crowd will
right her off as "too young" - just another pretty face,
and so on.

So she admits her age right off and let's everyone know
that in spite of her age - she KNOWS what she's talking
about and has the goods to prove it. Her best line of all
was when, with her back turned, she began showing the
visual proof on the screen, while adding, "Check out my
assetts."

Todd Dotson was masterful, not only as the host, but in
his talk about "How to Win in 2007." He outlined a step-
by-step procedure for moving up the success ladder - and
it wasn't just thinking about moving up - it was "doing some-
thing to move up." Combining vision with movement is the
key to success.

My first talk on Friday went well - but some in the audience weren't
too receptive to the ideas I was speaking about. They were getting
hit from left field.

What they heard took them out of their comfort zone. It was too hard to
imagine. Self-image wise, they couldn't even entertain the possibility of
what I was saying. The numbers were too big.

I left the room after my first talk feeling that I had completely bombed.
What was normal and ordinary for ME - was too much for the others to
believe.

I regrouped. I began to look for another way to explain myself.

Over dinner Saturday night I discussed a new plan with Todd. He liked it.
So did someone else at the table - who went right out the next morning
and used the idea during a question and answer panel discussion. Literally
swiped the idea in a ruthless, cut-throat manner.

This lit a fire inside of me.

I went back to my room and regrouped a second time. I pictured what I
wanted and asked for another idea that resonated with what the group
wanted.

It came to me instantly. The idea was BOLD. It was really, really BOLD.

In private I ran the idea by Todd - a mere two minutes before I was to
speak. To his credit he nodded, giving me his okay.

I stood in the hallway waiting for my turn. A few of my long-time students
walked past me. Afterward they told me what they experienced. One said,
"We better get in the room fast. This is going to be good. You can feel the
sparks coming off him from across the room and he hasn't even started
speaking yet."

Todd introduced me. I walked into the room. Took about 30 seconds to
pull a few items out of my bag - turned around to face the crowd - went
into another orbit and began speaking. Two hours later, after holding
everyone spellbound, I pulled out my big idea and ran it by them.

Then I closed.

The response was gargantuan. I earned my keep and made Todd happy
to have brought me aboard.

One man, John, told me that he went up to Todd, two-thirds of the way
through my presentation to say, "Well, it looks like the dark horse just
stole the show."

The bottom line is that I did not give up. I did not get discouraged when
things didn't go well. I used everything to my advantage. I turned each
and every negative into a positive.

I stayed focused on my vision.

The result was that I not only fulfilled my goal for the Wealth Cruise - I
did far better than I expected.

I channeled the disappointment I felt into something powerful, constructive and
positive. I transformed my disappointment into a victory. I rose above
what happened and made something ELSE happen. And when all was
said and done, I could hold my head high for doing what I had set out to
do and not allowing anyone or anything to stop me.

There's a message in this for you - and for me - as this won't be the only
time I will have hurdles to leap over, knock over and go around.

Thanks goodness for Psycho-Cybernetics Zero Resistance Living Course. The
tools in this course gave me all the mental resources I needed to rise above
the situation and make the best come from it. You can learn how to do this to

5 Fitness Mistakes to Avoid

Walk into any gym in America, or anywhere else in the
world, for that matter, and you'll see so many mistakes being
made, not only by the people working out - but by the idiot
personal trainers who taught it to them.

So fitness mistake numero uno is going into a gym in the first
place.

Recently my wife and I were given the run-around at a new facility that
opened in town. The chickedy giving us the so-called tour had no clue
about discovering 'hot buttons.' She was so intent on giving us her
presentation that she missed the body language that revealed the ONLY
purpose we would even consider going - the sauna.

Instead she gave us the schtour - taking us past the weight machines -
state-of-the-art, mind you - that now come equipped with, get this, a
place to put your cell phone, your drink and your workout program.

Therein lies mistake numero dos - When it is time to workout - don't bring
your friggin cell phone. Come on. You can leave it behind for a half-hour or
hour, can't ya.

After seeing the weight room we followed the girl up the stairs. As I was behind
her - which was the best view of the facility - she ruined the moment by saying,
'Gawd, I'm soooo sore. The personal trainers here have been putting me through
KILLER workouts lately.'

As she said this I was reminded of the old Wayne Dyer line, 'Ask me how little I
care.'

But her comment did bring to mind fitness mistake #3. And that is, never complain
about being sore. Being hurt is one thing. But being sore is quite different. And the
more you p*ss and moan about being sore, the more you are distracting yourself
from the true value of the program you're on. Not only that, but no one really wants
to hear you complain. Keep it to yourself.

Once we reached the top floor the girl quickly whisked us by the empty hard wood
floor room that had - well, nothing but hardwood floor. 'This is where people do yoga,
pilates and other bodyweight stuff,' she said.

'Really,' I replied. 'You mean stuff like that Combat Conditioning program, where
you increase strength, power, endurance and flexiblity all at the same time.'

'Supposedly,' she schmirked. 'But those exercises are dangerous, you're better off
pumping iron because it helps reduce injuries.'

'Have you ever done body weight exercises,' I inquired.

'I don't waste my time trying that sort of thing,' she answered.

I laughed to myself while my wife did an eyeball roll, then mumbled to me in Chinese,
'Bai shi.' That's code for, 'Idiot.'

Iignorance' - represents fitness mistake #4. Because this lady has never tried bodyweight exercises, she doesn't KNOW that they are superior to weights.

Now, for the finale. We followed Ms. Lilac into the 'cardio' room. Before us were dozens
of treadmills, steppers, and other equipment, each of which costs several thousand bucks.

'This is a stepper,' she says, as if I have no ability to discern the obvious.

'And this is a treadmill.'

Nah. You don't say.

'And all of these pieces of cardio equipment are state-of-the-art.'

Oh-boy, there's that mega-powerful catch-phraseology again. Imagine if it was
dump-of-the-art.

'Now, if you'll look at each of these machines, you'll see that there's a place for your
cell phone and your drink and your workout program.'

Oh boy, gooody, goooody, goooody.

'But there's more. At the top of each machine is a tee-vee screen. And on this tee-vee
screen you can watch tee-vee.'

'Are you serious,' I said.

'Yes, I'm tooootaleee serious,' she replied. 'What's more, you can also play your
favorite DVD or MP3.'

'But aren't you supposed connect your mind with your body when your exercise,'
I questioned.

'You don't want to do that,' she replied. 'It's better to be distracted.'

'I see,' I said.

'But hold on, there's more,' she said. 'Look at the sides of each of these machines.
There is a FAN on each side. This way you can train as hard as you want and not sweat
at all.'

What a concept, I thought to myself. Your skin is your largest eliminative organ.
Your body loves and, in fact, craves a good sweat. It's a very healthy thing for
you. But it's 'unnatural' in today's modern gym. Uggh.

As you can see I've just given you mistake #5 - as well as a bonus mistake,
for good measure. And there are plenty more.

The purpose of exercise is to 'strengthen the mind-body connection.' It is
not supposed to reduce it even further via the latest on tee-vee, DVD or
an MP3.

Combat Conditioning and my other fitness programs work like magic because
they strengthen the mind-body connection.

My good friend, Kim Wood, once said, 'Strength is nothing more than how
much of your mind is connected to your body.' He was right. Yet the same
is true about flexibility, endurance, power, speed and reflex. All fall under
the mantle of 'how much of your mind is connected to your body.'

Want to strengthen the connections in your body - then be sure to get my
programs right away. You'll find them invigorating from head to toe.

Bodybuilders Have Counterfeit Muscle

Today I'm going to reveal even more reasons
why it's not a good idea to become part of the
sub-culture of bodybuilding.

Before I do, let me be perfectly clear about one
thing. I am NOT a bodybuilder - nor do I teach
bodybuilding exercises. Yes, the exercises I teach
can and do BUILD and improve your body - but they
are NOT bodybuilding from the standpoint I'll be
elaborating on today.

The exercises in Combat Conditioning and Combat
Abs - just two of my international best-sellers, are
fitness, conditioning and health exercises. They can
and do strengthen your arms, legs, chest, shoulders,
back, neck, abs and so on. They give you endurance
galore. They improve your flexibility. They greatly
improve your physical appearance.

But they are NOT designed with the primary intention
of making you look like you're fit, healthy and vibrantly
alive - when you're really not.

There you have it, my friend. The above paragraph gives
you the way most bodybuilders think - and the way they
want YOU to think.

They want you to be obsessed with every morsel of body
fat. They want you to count the number of veins you can
see when you flex. They want you to to have symmetry
and a host of other artsy-fartsy terms.

And they could care less about how strong you are, how
athletic you are, how healthy you are, how flexibile - nor
how intelligent.

Shave body. Apply lotion. Stand before mirror - primp and
preen.

Get into tanning bed.

Workout with weights that would embarrass a five-year old.

And when you train - remember, pump is more important than
function.

Build your muscles as big as you can - but never ask yourself
questions like: How strong am I, really. How much endurance do
I have. How flexible am I. And most importantly - what can I do
with this body I'm creating - other than pose and flex.

I am not embellishing the truth in the least when I tell you that there
are champion bodybuilders who cannot walk up a flight of stairs without
being out of gas.

One of my favorite eye-witness accounts was when I spoke to a
bodybuilder in a gym. He was pedaling an exercycle. It was a
computerized device made by a top company. Yet, the amazing
fact was the bodybuilder was pedaling without it being turned on.

I asked him what he was doing. I thought the machine might be
broken. But it wasn't. This was the man's 'cardio workout.'

'I burn more fat when I train this way,' he said.

'Yeah, I'm SURRRRRRE you do,' I replied. 'You just better hope
that you never have to be fit enough to save your own life someday.'

And therein lies another truism exposing the fallacy of bodybuilding.
These guys are not fit enough to save their own lives. They're not
fit enough to even fight. Yet they'll take enough roids that they can
growl and groan and scream as if they're tiger-claw tough.

Believe me, they aren't.

Most bodybuilders are massively insecure; have weak self-images -
and all you need do to make one upset is say, 'My goodness, your
arms are looking a bit smaller. Are you okay.'

Men who get fit the Combat Conditioning way love to compete against
bodybuilders in a functional way - especially in a combat sport or
martial art. When we do, we quickly discover what we already know:
All those big muscles, rips, cuts, nips, tucks and striations - they don't
amount to a hill of ... well, anything.

Despite the size, the striations and the low, low, low bodyfat - the truth is
that bodybuilder muscles are 'counterfeit.' They're the antithesis of
functional strength - of core strength.

All of the above represents reason after reason why you'll love Combat
Conditioning. You get fit in a natural way. You acquire strength, endurance
and flexibility that you can USE.

You don't need to shave your chest. You don't need a tanning bed or a
set of posing trunks.

Much of the time, you don't even need a mirror - even though from time to
time the mirror can and should be used as a training guide and measuring
stick - just not in the obsessive/compulsive way that bodybuilders use it.

Most importantly, with Combat Conditioning, you build the internal and
external strength and health that can save your own life. And along with
this comes confidence and courage.

So reach out and grab the authentic, the real, the genuine training that
truly DOES improve your life. And leave the counterfeit muscles to those
whose bodies gradually become so racked with pain that they can barely
move at all.

Take the next Combat Conditioning flight. Ride first class on your way to
real health and fitness.

Come fly with me - NOW - today.

Go to http://www.mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html and make this
summer the season you turn back time.

Obliterate Worry and Frustration

Imagine you were given a tool to handle all the moments
of anxiety, frustration and anger you feel when you have a
goal and you're struggling to achieve it. And this tool didn't
just help you get over the negative feelings - it literally
helped catapult you to success.

Imagine you had a tool that would obliterate worry and
self-doubt - everytime.

Well, this month, members of the Psycho-Cybernetics Success
Group are going to receive this tool. It's going to come on a
very special CD. This one is part of the 50 Most Amazing
Visualizations and Meditations I am putting together.

And this particular visualization is called The Tale of Two Self-
Images - a spin-off from the Charles Dickens novel.

I first got the idea for this visualization while listening to an
old speech given by Dr. Maxwell Maltz - wherein he spoke
about Psycho-Cybernetics being the tale of two worlds, an
inner world and an outer world.

Later on he talked about the two selves - the little self who
lacks confidence, who is easily frustrated and anxious - and
the BIG SELF - the person in your mind and memory who is
larger than life, bigger than problems and stronger than you
know.

Let me introduce you to the BIG YOU. The person who teaches
you how to succeed over and over and over again.

Enroll in the Psycho-Cybernetics Success Group today by
going to http://www.psycho-cybernetics.com/success_group.html
and together we'll make it happen.

The door is open. Why not walk through it and change your life.

Matt Furey

P.S. By the way, many of you have been asking about my next Internet/ business
seminar. Stay tuned. I'll have information for you on that very soon. In the
interim, you can look into the Elite Gold Crown Program by going to

Computers Make You Fat

In a recent visual schtudy of computer-using
men and women, I discovered they have a
much higher rate of buttock fat than those who
simply watch tee-vee.

Not only that, but those who use a computer for
more than eight hours a day are quite likely to
suffer from higher rates of buttock fat than those
who watch tee-vee for the same amount of time.

The reason for this is simple: Those who watch
tee-vee for eight hours are more likely to get
up every hour or so and go to the fridge for
something to eat. Strange as this sounds, this
little bit of exercise makes a difference.

Computer people, on the other hand, are more
likely to make a phone call or send an email -
asking someone else to bring them food. They're
LESS likely to get up and go get it themselves.

This slight difference in preferences leads to a 9%
greater chance of being prone to buttock fat -
whereas the tee-vee group is 32% less prone
to having back ache, knee pain and cancer.

Further research into this phenomenon is forth-coming
after I get a grant from the U.S. government for 5
million smackeroos. I'm also looking into accepting
bribe money from some of the food and pharmaceutical
industries.

Now, perhaps what you've read made you laugh. I hope
it did. Here's why I wrote it: Most of the studies we do are
pure BS. They tell us almost nothing. They're an utter waste
of time to read. What's worse, many so-called experts cannot
produce a shred of original thought on anything without first
consulting the latest study, quoting another source, repeating
what someone else said, and so on.

You'll note that el Fure-cat is different.

If you follow nature's laws - which are usually NOT put on the
scope of a 'scientific study' - you'll get along in life far better
than you will reading schtudies.

Here are a few of Nature's Laws:

1. Practice deep breathing daily - preferably in fresh air

2. Move your body through space - walking, swimming, doing
bodyweight calisthenics, practicing martial arts, dance, etc.

3. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables

4. Get plenty of rest

5. Stretch your body after long periods of sitting or lying

6. Avoid processed foods that come in a bag, box or wrapper

7. Think good thoughts

You can study the list above all you want and the conclusions will
always be the same. These laws work.

There are more I could list. Not necessary right now. Do the above
and you'll know you're on the right track.

Most importantly, if you sit at a computer during the day, make sure
you get up and move around every hour or so. Stretch your neck and
lower back. Loosen your joints.

I show you how to do all the above in great detail when you've got my
Combat Conditioning book and DVDs. Go get 'em NOW by surfing over

Eat from the Sword

Last night I was in Houston - in the big state of Texas,
taking a day off before embarking on the Wealth Cruise,
where I'll be sharing the stage with Todd Dotson, Kendra
Todd, Loral Langmeier and Barbara DeAngelis.

While in Houston, I met a couple members of my MasterMind
for dinner at a Brazilian restaurant - Foco de Chao. And let me
tell you, if you haven't eaten at one of these places - and there aren't
many in the U.S. - you want to do so.

What's so great about this restaurant.

Well, to begin - you have a huge salad bar with enough food
to fill you up in a few minutes. But as soon as you finish your
salad - a man will approach your table with a slab of freshly
grilled meat on a large skewer. With sword in hand he asks if
you'd like some filet, some pork, some chicken, some lamb -
or whatever else he and his co-workers have.

You say "yes" and he slices off a hunk and puts it on your
plate. As you're eating another man arrives with another
type of meat - they have 15 different varieties - and you
say yea or nay.

The feast continues until you're ready to explode - or until
you say stop, whichever comes first.

Being I was following the Furey Fat Loss Program to a 't' -
I was able to eat for a long, long time. My gut wasn't
bloated with useless starches and grains that suck the
water out of your system - so there was room for a
lot.

And when the meal was over, I stood outside talking with
great enthusiasm - until my wife drug me into the van,
pleading with me that it was time to go.

Key point is this: No fatigue after eating. No need to fall
asleep to deal with elevated blood sugar levels from
the eating of starch.

One of the people I ate dinner with, William, is 75 years
young and super healthy. He and I spent a good portion
of the evening talking about all the misinformation people
have been fed about what is healthy and what isn't.

Unlike most 75-year olds, not to mention those in their 20's,
30's, and 40's, William doesn't have a lick of fat on his gut.
He's lean, fit and mentally alert. And his wife is, too.

In fact, it was pretty cool that out of the ten people at our
table, not a single one was fat. Now how often does that
happen in 'merica. [Spell checkers make a note - I dropped
the 'A' of of 'merica on porpoise.]

We've been fed a ton of baloney about meat being bad for
you - meanwhile all the grains and starches are paraded before
us as if they're the 2nd coming.

Am I advocating Atkins or other "low carb" diets.

No, I'm not.

I am, however, advocating you follow an approach that is much
simpler and easier to follow - and I believe much healthier.

When you follow it the excess weight will fly off your body in record
time.

The best news of all is those who are already members of the Matt
Furey Inner Circle have access to this information, and when they
follow it, the results are astounding.

Take 50-year old Algie Roberson, for example. A few weeks ago he
won the $5,000.00 prize for becoming the 2007 Combat Conditioning
Athlete of the Year. He went from 215 pound to 185 - and let me tell
you, he's a machine.

When asked what he did to drop the excess, his answer was simple.
He followed my exercises - as prescribed in Combat Conditioning -
and my diet - as prescribed to members of the Matt Furey Inner
Circle.

If you're not a member yet - I'd like you to come with me. I'd like you
to climb aboard our virtual health and fitness ship. I'd like to see you
make 2007 the year where you get into the best shape of your life.

When you're a member of the Matt Furey Inner Circle - you not only
get my best-selling fitness book for nothing - you get my diet along
with it - again, for no cost.

You have two options for enrolling - and you'll find both of them at
http://www.mattfurey.com/furey_inner_circle.html - one is an
annual subscription, the other is monthly.

If you hurry and place your order today, you'll receive the special
beefy edition of my Maximum Health and Fitness newsletter - where
you'll read a full report on Algie winning the contest and how he did
it. You'll also get a copy of Fure-cat's Fitness Motivation CD - wherein
you'll get to listen in on Algie as he reveals his secret winning formula
to me.

Let's have a feast together, okay.

Come fly with me - http://www.mattfurey.com/furey_inner_circle.html

Matt Furey

P.S. My fulfillment office said we only have another 119 issues of the

Reduces High-Blood Pressure

Forget pill popping.

One of the exercises in the Chinese Long-Life System, is said
by people in China to reduce high blood pressure.

Although I don't have high blood pressure, I'm certain I
never will, especially since I am armed with this extraordinary
'slapping' exercise

What I'm talking about is slapping, with your hand in a cuplike
shape, the very muscles that tighten and harden when you
have high-blood pressure.

You'll feel the rejuvenating effect of this gentle slapping right away.
It'll relax and de-stress you almost immediately.

To discover more about this, be sure to place your order NOW by
going to http://www.chineseculturesecrets.com/long_life.html

Best,

Matt Furey

P.S. Also, located on the same website is the Chuang Shang de
Gong fu course - which people have been raving about for the
past year - http://www.chineseculturesecrets.com
Note:

None of the information in this email is to be taken as medical advise. Always
consult a physician before beginning any exercise or health program.

Am I on Steroids

Wouldn't you know it. First I'm a fat slob. Then when I
prove otherwise, I must be on steeeroids.

Ain't life grand.

At any rate, this is all good news because the updates to
my website are, for the most part, getting rave reviews.

There will be MORE updates forthcoming. So make sure you
keep tabs by going to http://www.mattfurey.com - as well
as all the REAL testimonials on my Combat Conditioning book
and DVD page. I say REAL because everyone on the site has
a photo along with the endorsement. Not only that, most have
websites so you don't need to go to Google and try to verify
whether or not these people are real.

What's more - MANY of the testimonials are from best-selling
authors - people who are experts in their fields. Others are
from professional coaches and doctors. Even put up a computer
geek guy. You gotta read his story. Amazing. You can see ALL
by going to http://www.mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html

Even if you already own my book and DVD's - I think you should
check out the updates because it will keep you motivated to stay
the course. Especially when you see some of the before-and-after
photos.

Oh, one more thing: Many famous authors write about me and or my
training programs in their books. Steve Chandler, author of The Story
of You is one. Another is Barry Eisler - the sensational novelist who
has written the famous John Rain series of books, Rain Fall, Hard Rain,
and so on.

You'll note how all the testimonials on my site are positioned between
these two authors - sort of like bookends.

Oh, by the way, I ain't on no steeeroids. And yes, I spelled it rong on
porpoise.

Kick butt - take names,

Matt Furey

P.S. A lot of people are now vying for position on my Combat Conditioning
page as so many, many people have great experiences and stories to tell.
You're welcome to send testimonials with photos and we'll put them
in the queue as we figure out a way to use them in the future.

Your Goal for Today

When most people talk about goals they usually refer to their
one-year, 5-year and 10-year plans.

Nothing wrong with that.

However, in order to have a constant feeling of success coarsing
through your veins, I always advise having 'daily' goals to
accomplish.

By daily goals I do not mean your 'to do' list. Not at all. I mean
something you can do each day to be creatively alive; something
you can point to and say, 'Look what I accomplished today. Look
what I achieved. Look what I created.'

It might be a fitness goal. You make your goal of walking 5 miles.

It might be a writing goal. You start and finish that article you've
been thinking about.

It might be a painting; or the closing of a sale.

As a college wrestler I realized that when I went to practice with
a specific goal, I ruled the room. The same opponent in practice
whom I would struggle to beat would be mince-meat if I had a
goal to throw him, for example, 20 times. I proved this over
and over.

Your mind loves something to focus on; a target to hit.

And every day that you hit at least one target - that's a day in
which your confidence soars.

At the beginning of each day, ask yourself, 'What do I want to
create today. What goal do I want to accomplish today.'

Write down the answer - then get going.

Throw yourself into action and watch how the hours go by.

Why. Because you're creatively alive. And that's a good way
to live.

Best,

Matt Furey

Am I a Fat Slob?

I have to thank my critics for their help with my
website.

A week ago a friend sent me an email where some
people were criticizing me because all the photos
of me on my website were "old."

"He's a fat slob," one person suggested. "The photos
of him on his site were when he lifted weights and
was muscular. Now that he does bodyweight exercises
he's a slob, has no muscle and no definition."

i thought to myself, 'Fure-cat, that's a great idea. Put
up some new photos. Some very recent photos. Some
photos that prove you are not a slob. It won't win over
your critics, but it may improve your sales."

So I pulled out a few photos from December 17, 2006,
taken of me in Hainan Island, China - my vacation home.

And I took my famous waterfall picture off.

Not only that, but I updated my Combat Conditioning book
page - putting up a larger portion of testimonials from the
hundreds of thousands of people I have served. All of these
testimonials include photos as well as credentials. The majority
of them ALSO contain their websites, so you won't have to Google
them to see if they're real - or if they are who they say they are.
Every single person is SOLID.

I seriously doubt this many people would put their arse on the line
for me if what I'm saying about my products didn't hold water.

These testimonials run the gamut from world renowned authors,
famous bodybuilders, an NFL strength coach, wrestlers, martial
artists, football and basketball players, a concert pianist, a dancer,
a Marine, a cop, men in their 60's, an M.D., a chiropractor - and
MORE.

Also on the site are three men brave enough to forward their before-and-
after photos.

There are many, many others we'd like to put on the site - but I think
the evidence is overwhelmingly positive and forceful.

So make sure you take a gander at the updates on my homepage at
http://www.mattfurey.com - as well as those on the Combat Conditioning
page at http://www.mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html

More updates will be coming soon - including me being on the cover of
a couple more magazines.

Stay tuned.

Okay, enough for now. Time to get busy ...

Kicking butt and taking names,

Matt Furey

P.S. Almost forgot to say, to those who've said I was bigger and more
muscular and more ripped when I lifted weights - well, I guess you
haven't seen the updated photos, have you. Go to http://www.mattfurey.com
and see what I mean.

This is IT

A couple months ago I received a package on something
called "The Pizzazz Factor" - sort of a new twist on the so-
called It Factor.

I was curious about what it was, so I opened the package.
I put on the first DVD and with remote control in hand, was
ready to begin fast forwarding through the program to
quickly get the "gist" of it.

45 minutes later the remote was still in my hand - but I
wasn't using it to fast forward. I was using it to rewind and
see things again.

The lady teaching the course is the fabulous Vanessa Bader.
She's spent her life dancing and performing - and she knows
the IT Factor so well that she can show virtually anyone,
regardless of age, sex or profession - how to go BEYOND IT.

That's right. There's something BETTER than IT.

Vanessa calls it PIZZAZZ.

And she promises to teach the average person how to radiate
the confidence and charisma of movie stars and other famous
celebrities that you can't stop watching, reading about or thinking
about.

Now, here's the key - if you're the one creating the course and teaching
the Pizzazz Factor; if you're the one telling people they can have
it, too - then by goodness you MUST have it yourself.

Well ... let me ask you this: If I was unable to use my remote to fast
forward, if I felt compelled to not only keep watching, but to rewind -
then there is more than a little something worth watching.

I'm a busy man. That's why I fast forward and speed read through most of
what comes across my desk. I've trained myself to be able to gather infor-
mation quickly so I can get more done in less time.

Yet I could not fast forward through this program. Not only that, I could
not resist the urge to check out the second DVD, and the third. I couldn't
resist reading what she had in the binder.

It was the same as if I turned on the idiot box and saw Paris H. in "The Simple
Life."

Three hours later I'd be watching it, all the while telling whoever will listen, that
this show is lame, stupid and a complete joke. But I'd still be watching.

Unlike The Simple Life, however - this program is ALL substance. There is no
filler, no fluff.

That's why, both men and women love this program.

The exercises for your waistline are worth the fee for it alone.

But there's a whole lot more.

Vanessa is an absolute pleasure to watch - and to listen to.

She's from South Africa originally - and her accent is awesome.

English isn't even her native language. Yet she communicates as
if she knows it better than anyone on the planet. She puts the
Pizzazz Factor into everything she says and does.

A couple weeks ago she spoke at my "Secret of Secrets" Fitness
seminar. It was the very first time she had ever spoken in public.

You wouldn't have known it. You'd think she'd done it her whole
life.

The crowd went nuts when she demonstrated the Pizzazz Factor
walk, the facial expressions, the gestures - and most of all, when
she took off the long coat and revealed how she exercises.

Men, women, children - dogs, cats, gators - Uncle Bob, Grandma
and Grandpa - you've got to get the Pizzazz Factor.

Just watching it will give you full value. It will change forever how
you carry yourself in public - and along with it, the way others
see you, relate to you. It will change your personal and professional
life for the better.

Get the program NOW at http://www.mattfurey.com/pizzazz.html

Florida Man Drops 138 lbs - Increases Strength

Once you've gotten into the swing of doing
Hindu Squats, Hindu Pushups and bridging -
you'll probably feel the urge to 'go to the
next level.'

Or you might be wondering 'what else is
out there.' Is there an advanced program
on Combat Conditioning.

Well, matter of fact, there is and it's
called Gama Fitness.

Gama Fitness is a program that I put
together a couple years back with my
good friend Ed Baran and it totally kicks
'arse.'

In this program you learn how to focus
your mind on a goal and make it happen.
You also learn how to set all the negative
to the side so you can concentrate on
'what you want' - not what you don't
want.

Not only that, but in the Gama Fitness
course we teach 15 variations of the Hindu
pushup alone; several variations of Hindu
squats; more on bridging; and an entire
lesson on pullups and chin-ups - something
not addressed in Combat Conditioning.

But we don't stop there. In fact, we also
go into strengthening of shoulders with
chest expander cables; the secret power
of isometrics and how they tap your strength
from the INSIDE out.

There's much more I could tell you about
Gama Fitness - but rather than listening to
me rave, why not hear what one proud owner
of this course has to say:

'Matt,
Your Gama Fitness Course has given me a step
by step guideline for achieving my goals. Last
Christmas I weighed 377 lbs., as of August 12th
my body weight is down to 239 lbs. and I lost over
20' on my waist!! My body fat is down to 18 %.
Imagine how good I felt when I could walk into a
department store and buy a large shirt instead of a
5x shirt, 36' jeans instead of 58' jeans. Not only
have I lost wait on your plan, but I also improved
on my conditioning. I perform 500 Hindu Squats
without stopping after a spinning class 3x a week!
My Dead Lift has also gone up from 375 lbs. to 495
lbs. for 3 reps.!!! Your accolades as a wrestling and
fitness guru will go unprecedented!!! I can't thank you
enough.'

Robert Lucarelli
Florida

I realize you might be inclined to ask for proof that Mr.
Lucarelli went from HUGE to supremely fit with the Gama
Fitness course.

Well, your wish is my command. Want to see proof? Then
go to http://www.gama-fitness right now and see Robert's
before and after photos.

Better yet - while you're there - don't just look at the photos,
make a decision to do what Robert has done. Make a decision
to change your life for the better.

Gama Fitness will show you the way.

Best,

Matt Furey

P.S.: By the way, in case you didn't click the link a couple
seconds ago - let me tell you that you're making a mistake
if you don't investigate this. Go to http://www.gama-fitness.com
right now and see for yourself.

How to Put Power Into Your Vision

You've probably heard the phrase, 'Get in touch
with your feelings.' Well, as common as this phrase
is, it's the wrong idea.

Simply getting in touch with your feelings is barely
the beginning of being 'conscious.' What's more, if
all you do is get in touch with your feelings, you've
done next to nothing to move forward, grow and
become more than you currently are - and becoming
MORE is what everyone truly wants.

And so, it is NOT the noticing of one's feelings that
is helpful, it is knowing that you can notice a feeling,
then expand it, shrink it or simply transmute it into
something much more powerful.

This becomes absolutely crystal clear when doing the Theatre
of the Mind exercise. Once you locate the good feeling from a
previous success experience, you amplify it. You make it stronger,
more powerful and more intense ... and this puts you on course to
achieve one success after another. The more you think about
and explore what you do when you succeed, the more you
will understand, feel and move toward success. Like attracts
like.

For more instruction on how to do this - get Dr. Maxwell Maltz'
advanced course in Creative Psycho-Cybernetics - Zero Resistance
Living. Learning how to tap into the success system already in your
mind will be the greatest skill you will ever learn.

Go to http://www.psycho-cybernetics.com/zrlcourse.html and order NOW.

Best,

Matt Furey

P.S. Below is a perfect business example of someone who learned to
amplify his desire for greater success, happiness and well-being:

"Psycho-Cybernetics helped make the differnence in my life as it
helped me get clarity on how I wanted to live my life. It also helped
me determine which activities to pursue that would benefit myself, the
community I live in and my clients. Following Matt's coaching, I pictured
a new future. I left my job selling advertising for a single company and
opened up to the entire world. I went from making only $150,000.00 a
year to running my own ad agency that has generated millions of dollars
within just 2 years. It's all about how you use your imagination, how you
see yourself and what you do."

Is Slow Walking Good for You

It used to drive me nuts. It would be evening. We'd just
finished a delcious meal at one of my favorite restaurants
in China - and then ....

We'd go for a walk.

But it was no ordinary walk, my friend.

It was SLOOOOOOW.

We're talking, so slow that you'd think there was absolutely
no benefit. I'd turn to my wife, 'Come on, hurry up. Let's go.
Move it, move it, move it.'

She'd just look at me and laugh.

It was like watching tai chi paint dry - it was agonizing.

But it was precisely what I needed.

Relaxation is key; it is a fundamental skill that you must learn
to enjoy superb health. The person who cannot relax is a
disaster waiting to happen.

Tis the yin and the yang of things. There is a time to sprint
and a time to rest.

Consider the cat - any cat will do.

A tiger sleeps or rests almost the entire day. As much as 21
hours or more. But man, when that tiger decides it's time to
go hunting, you don't want to be in his way.

Human beings don't need 21 hours of rest per day - unless they
are sick. But we do need to take time each day to relax and unwind -
and this is NOT sleep time.

It's relaxed walking. It's relaxed meditation. It's relaxed eating,
drinking and speaking.

It's keeping your mind and body relaxed, centered and focused
no matter what you're doing.

People I coach are continually amazed at how much I get done
even though they never see me hurried, worried or stressed.

Yes, I have moments that are full-boar - but they are nothing like
they used to be - when I honestly thought that was the ONLY way
to do anything.

Remember the saying, 'Don't worry - be happy.'

Well, today I'd like to leave you with, 'Don't hurry - be happy.'

Best,

Matt Furey

P.S. In the Chinese Long-Life System you'll discover that it isn't
just super vigorous exercise that strengthens your system. It's also
the internal exercises. You've got to strengthen your internal organs
with exercise and proper pressure point massage, because if you
don't, you'll find out someday that it matters not how strong your
muscles are. If your organs begin to fail - and I'm talking ONE organ -
not ALL - you will be pretty much helpless. And that's the truth. So order
the Chinese Long-Life System today and put yourself on the fast track to
lifelong health - http://www.chineseculturesecrets.com/long_life.html
Note:

None of the information in this email is to be taken as medical advise. Always
consult a physician before beginning any exercise or health program.

You Don't Just Do It

There are two types of fitness people:

1. Those who think the purpose of physical exercise is purely
physical.

2. Those who think the purpose of exercise encompasses the
total person - his mind, his muscles and his connection to a
Power greater than oneself.

I have never thought highly of those who think exercise is only
for the muscles, joints and organs; the type of person who grunts
and groans through a workout with no sense of calmness or
clarity.

Exercise is far more than physical. It's an opportunity to think
about your life and the direction you are heading. It's an opportunity
to focus on your breath and the reality that if this one stream is
cut off, your physical body no longer serves a purpose.

Exercise is a metaphor for change, psychological as well as physical.
You change who you are on the inside first; you change the way you
see yourself - and these changes set up a new you on the outside.

If you go through a series of exercises with a wandering mind, even
though you're moving your body, you won't see much progress. The
gyms are filled with examples of this.

On the other hand, if you view exercise as a time to pay attention to
your body and the thoughts you are thinking while you train - if you
take the time to run mental movies of how you want to look and feel
as you train - then you will come to realize the awesome power of
doing something consciously.

We often hear the slogan, "Just do it." Yet, those who make a decision
to just do it are not "JUST" doing it.

In order to just do it - you must make a shift in your attitude. You must
say to yourself, "Stop all the idiot self-talk. Stop criticizing yourself. Stop
worrying about what the others think. Picture what it is that YOU want and
then DO IT."

Then, once you've begun to "just do it" - you keep the thought "just do it"
in mind. You picture yourself moving forward. You see yourself plowing
through or rising above all obstacles. You don't allow yourself to think a
single wimpy "no can do" thought. You only think "can do" thoughts.

So "just do it" is not just doing it. It is making up your mind - setting up a
powerful intention, forming a powerful mental image in your mind - taking
a deep breath to absorb MORE life - then getting off your rumpus and
DOING IT.

Those who do Combat Conditioning - http://www.mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html
know they are getting a TOTAL workout in more ways than one. The program
doesn't just get you fit, help reduce excess weight, increase strength, stamina
and flexibility. It also changes your personality. It makes you a more positive
person; someone who looks for the good in himself and others; someone who
extends his mind beyond the norm to pull in the power of the Universe.

Someone who makes a conscious decision to ...

Kick butt and Take Names,

Matt Furey
author of the Int'l best-seller Combat Conditioning, and several other
powerhouse programs - http://www.mattfurey.com/products.html

P.S. Below is an example of somene who launched a serious complaint
about my products:

Dear Matt,
I have a SERIOUS COMPLAINT about your products - they make me LOSE things.
Let me give you an example:

I've lost 4lbs in 1 MONTH & inches off my waist, which means I now have to
buy smaller clothes.

They also make me GAIN things, like muscle & flexibility. (& increased
confidence).

I recently took up yoga & found a big similarity between some of the
excercises in CC & yoga positions. PLUS I was flexible enough to execute
some of the moves the FIRST TIME round, thanks to CC.

Using CC & yoga, plus a bit of pilates has helped me be in the best shape
I've ever been in.

If anyone has an actual complaint about your products, maybe they are too
dumb to do them.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

God Bless,

Rachel

The one thing Rachel hit upon is not just strength and flexibility and lost inches,
but the confidence that goes with them. Once again, psychological well-being
is part of what you get with the exercises I teach. Make sure you jump on

The Biggest Competitor You Will Ever Face

Competition is a good thing. A great thing. It brings out
the best in a person. It shows a person where his true
weaknesses are.

Yet, after a competition, there is an enormous danger.
The person who loses may consider himself a failure.

It is one thing to say to yourself, 'I didn't do well today,
but I'll do better next time. I wasn't myself today, but
I'll improve on this. I didn't win today, but I'm still a
winner inside.'

I realize it's hard to do sometimes, especially if you
really wanted to win - but it must be done for you to
move to the next level.

The best athletes, salespeople, entrepreneurs and so on,
don't compete with others as much as they compete
with themselves. Afterall, once you're better than all
your competitors, how can you continue to improve
if your focus is simply about 'beating the others.'

When I was in college my father told me to 'make
yourself your greatest opponent.' He was right.

In order to do this you must go back in time and
picture your best moments, your greatest successes.
You must relive the feelings of confidence you once
experienced.

Doing so is the same as a good friend reminding you of
your value; that you're someone special. Only difference
is that NOW you are being a friend to yourself. You're
going within and finding the BIG SELF who inherently
knows that you came into this world to succeed.

I once knew a businessman who was very successful for
more than ten years. Then the demand for his product
died off and he had to close up shop. He thought of
himself as a failure; that he was a loser.

I talked to the man and said, 'My goodness, you had
10 years of success. I wouldn't call that a failure. Close

He listened. And he succeeded once again.

There are great athletes who go undefeated until the
'BIG SHOW.' Then, if they lose the big show, they
feel like total failures. But they're not. They simply
lost one game.

So long as these athletes gave it everything they had
in that game, they can hold their heads high. And if
they didn't give it everything they had, they can declare
that 'next time will be different.'

Do as Dr. Maltz always says. Instead of trying to keep up
with the Joneses and feeling badly when you're not at their
level - 'keep up with yourself.'

Make yourself your greatest competition.

Iowa Farmer Turns 146 Years Old Today

Martin "Farmer" Burns was born February 15, 1861, in a log
cabin located in Springfield Township, Cedar County, Iowa.

When Martin was only eleven, his father died, leaving him behind
with his mother, one brother and five sisters. In order to help
support the family, Martin worked for a neighboring farmer for
twelve dollars a month. He also took jobs sawing wood, plowing
corn and digging graves.

Although he received little schooling, Martin made up his mind early
on that he wanted to become a professional wrestler. When he was
only eight years old he wrestled another boy for his first stake; fifteen
cents was put up by each side. The opponent, James Magrin, was three
years older than Burns, but young Martin tossed him and walked away
with the prize. He also left with an even stronger desire to achieve even
more.

In the book, Life Work of Farmer Burns (copyright 1911), it says, "From the
age of twelve to the age of nineteen years he spent his time plowing corn
in the daytime and wrestling evenings every time he secured a chance with
whoever he could find to hold up the other end of the work. At the age of
nineteen years he was quite well known in the neighborhood of Denison, Iowa,
as a very husky young man with a reputation as a winner in every match into
which he had entered, and it was here that he met a professional wrestler
for the first time in his life."

Burns developed many of his theories about wrestling, mostly because he had
to continually whip bigger and stronger men who were in good condition.

In 1886, Burns lost his first match to Henry Clayton, who wrestled under the
name of Evan "Strangler" Lewis (not to be confused with Robert Friederich,
who wrestled in another era under the name of Ed "Strangler" Lewis). One
year later Burns lost again, this time to Tom Connors. Burns later avenged
both of these losses.

In the spring of 1889, Burns made a trip to Chicago with two carloads of hogs.
Because he had a ten-day stay, Burns unloaded the hogs and went sight seeing.
While wandering around the town he spotted various advertisements posted in
regard to two wrestlers, Jack Carkeek and Evan "Strangler" Lewis, who were
taking on all-comers.

The bill read as follows:

JACK CARKEEK and EVAN LEWIS, the STRANGLER, at the OLYMPIC THEATRE.
WILL MEET ALL COMERS. $25.00 to anyone staying fifteen minutes or $2.00
per minute after the first seven minutes. No limit to time and nobody barred.

Parson Davis, Manager.

Burns, viewing this as his chance to break into the professional ranks of
catch-as-catch-can wrestling, seized the day and went to the manager's
office to say he wanted to take the $2 per minute challenge. The manager
booked Burns for the following evening. But word soon got out and
Carkeek met with the manager, trying to persuade him to call off the
engagement. Burns was not to be turned away. He told Manager Davis
that he would be in town for 10 days and any night would be just fine.

The following evening was not only Burns' chance to make it big, it was
also the night he became known as the "Farmer." As wrestling was only
part of the show and most of the rest was comedy, the crowd waited for
J.W. Kelly, who showed up for work drunk, to make the introduction of
the next contestant. Burns had to literally shake Kelly awake, and when
he finally came to and saw him dressed in overalls, he rushed onto the
stage.

"What would you call a man who hoes potatoes and squash and shucks
corn?" Kelly asked.

"A farmer," replied the musician.

"Well, then," he continued, "if this farmer would get locked up in a house
and the house would catch fire, what would happen to the farmer?"

"I do not know," the musician replied.

"Farmer Burns," replied Kelly.

He then ran off the stage and the audience sat dumbfounded. A few moments
later, however, when Burns appeared in overalls and shook hands with Carkeek,
who was bare-chested, they understood.

Although the large crowd now understood the joke, they had no idea that this
"Farmer" was going to put on one helluva show. Burns took Carkeek off the
mat and tossed him about the stage, knocking the scenery around with him
for fifteen minutes. He was finally declared the winner after 15 minutes as
Carkeek was unable to throw him.

Then it was time for Lewis. 15 minutes proved to be too short a time for Lewis
to throw Burns, and the "Farmer" won that bout as well. The next day the
Chicago newspapers lauded this unknown "farmer" and within short order
his story was known across the land.

Burns went on to become champion of America, even though he was a
middle-weight.

In his day, professional wrestling matches were, for the most part, real
contests (but not always). Unlike amateur catch-as-catch-can (collegiate
or freestyle wrestling), professional catch wrestling often had no time limit.

Some matches were takedowns only and the match was decided by a throw;
other matches were decided by pin or submission. On several occasions, title
matches would last for several hours. In some the objective was to throw the
opponent within a specified time limit. If the match wasn't decided by a throw
within a certain time, you could win the bout with a three-second pin (holding
both shoulder blades of your opponent on the canvas) or by submission.

In most matches, the strangle or choke holds were barred ... in some, toe
holds were banned. No points were given for takedowns, throws, reversals,
escapes or the like in a professional match. Burns was an all-around wrestler
who excelled on his feet as well as on the mat. He was a master of the pin,
perfecting the Nelson series, the hammerlock, double-wrist lock, chicken wing
and a great many toe holds. If Burns didn't pin you - he found a way to make
you beg for mercy. From 1890-1893, "Farmer" Burns traveled around the
country taking on all comers as part of various carnival shows. He never
lost a fall. One of his biggest victories was over Japan's Matsada Sora Kichi,
whom he defeated in Troy, New York, in four minutes.

In 1893, "Farmer" Burns opened a gymnasium in Rock Island, Illinois, where
he trained several hundred students. Later still he opened a wrestling and
physical culture school in Omaha, Nebraska, and helped others across the
country establish schools as well.

In 1908, "Farmer" Burns top student, Frank Gotch, of Humboldt, Iowa,
captured the world heavyweight championship when he soundly defeated
the Russian Lion, George Hackenschmidt. Over the years there have been
many Hack fans who have claimed that Gotch used "foul tactics" to win,
but these claims are hardly worth entertaining. A Burns' trained wrestler
didn't need to resort to foul tactics to win.

Burns involvement in wrestling was so rich and so deep that he taught
amateur catch-as-catch-can in Iowa high schools. Without question,
the reason why high school and college wrestling is so BIG in Iowa
to this day, is a direct result of the forgotten but not lost foundation
the "Farmer" laid there a century ago. In fact, in 1921, "Farmer"
Burns coached Cedar Rapids Washington to the first-ever Iowa high
school state championship, held in Ames, Iowa.

Burns also trained many other professional wrestlers. Three of the
most noteworthy were light weight Jack Reynolds and heavyweights
Earl Caddock, who won the world title in 1917, and Joe "Toots" Mondt,
a man feared both outside and inside the ring.

In wrestling historian Mike Chapman's book, From Gotch to Gable - A
History of Wrestling in Iowa, a number of renowned collegiate coaches
heaped praise on Burns. One notable coach, Dave McCuskey, who led
Iowa Teacher's College to the national team title in 1950 referred to Burns
as "the cornerstone" of Iowa wrestling. "He organized clubs and taught
young men to wrestle," McCuskey said.

It wasn't just wrestlers who believed in "Farmer" Burns, either.

In 1910, when Jim Jeffries was making a comeback after a long lay-off,
he was viewed as a "Great White Hope." In order to get in shape for his
title bout against Jack Johnson, Jeffries hired Burns to help with his
conditioning.

While in training camp in Reno, Nevada, Burns got into a heated debate
with another trainer, who just happened to be Billy Papke, a former
middleweight boxing champion. Burns, in his 50's, was much older
than Papke, but the "Farmer" decided that the two should settle
their argument in an all-out street fight. Papke took a few swings,
then Burns took him down and submitted him, making him cry
"Uncle."

In 1914 Burns published a mail order course entitled, Lessons in Wrestling
and Physical Culture - http://www.mattfurey.com/farmerburns.html

The course was sent out in a newsletter format. Each set of instructions was
16 pages long and contained two lessons. The first lesson was on exercise
and physical culture; the second dealt with wrestling techniques. The complete
course was 96 pages long; divided into six booklets containing a total of 12 lessons.

Of all the wrestling books and literature I have ever read, there was something
about the words of the late "Farmer" Burns that stirred my soul.

How great it must have been, I wondered, to have been born during his era, and
to have been one of his students. Although his course could never replace hands-on
wrestlinginstruction, it was the next best thing. And the information in it on getting
fit is some of the most powerful training information I have ever read.

One of the amazing things about "Farmer" Burns is that he was thoroughly
familiar with jiu-jitsu, judo and other methods of grappling and self-defense.

His neck was so powerful and so resistant to pain, that he often challenged
people to try and choke him out. No one ever succeeded although it is said
that thousands tried.

In his mail order course "Farmer" Burns laid out his training method for
wrestlers ... and for that matter, anyone who wanted to improve his
overall health. Although Burns' contributions to the wrestling world
were great, his training method is even more impressive, as he was
teaching in the late 1800's and early 1900's what most people today
would consider "Eastern" martial arts principles.

Deep breathing exercises (known as chi kung in China) were the foundation
of Burns' training method. Gymnastic and calisthenic exercises took the
place of heavy weight lifting.

Hand and foot movements were done speedily in order to develop timing.

Light dumbbells were used to stretch the muscles more deeply in every direction.

Bridging was done to develop the muscles of the neck and spine.

Isometrics were done solo or with a partner for added resistance. Distance
running and boxing were encouraged to build "wind." And wrestling was
considered the greatest exercise an athlete could participate in.

Martin "Farmer" Burns died at the age of 77 but his legacy and his spirit will never
leave us. That's why today, he is 146 years old.

It may be hard to imagine, but can you picture yourself as a person who will
devote nearly 70 years of your life to your chosen art? That's what "Farmer"
Burns did. He championed "America's martial art" and showed why it was
so effective.

In the U.S. we do not typically use the words "master" and "Grandmaster"
for our wrestling champions and our great teachers. But as we enter this
new millennium, it is time to make an exception. It is time to break tradition.
It is time to give Martin "Farmer" Burns his rightful place in history.

He is the Grandmaster of American wrestling.

Don't Say I Love You

If you want to touch your friend, lover, sweetheart or
spouse's heart today - DON'T say "I love you."

Instead, look him or her in the eyes and say something
else; something that will touch, pull and tug the heart
strings like nothing else; something that will never be
forgotten.

Here's what I suggest: Think of all the things you admire
about this special person. Think back upon what you loved
about him or her when you first met - or when you first
became friends.

Go back and play a mental movie of those times. See
everything on the big screen in your mind.

Then do one of two things: Put a positive message in writing
with the details about what you admire in this person and
deliver it to him or her while you stand there and watch
your message get read.

Or ... you go directly to this person, look directly into her eyes
and begin with the following phrase: "I never told you this before
but when I first met you the thing I loved and admired about you
was ...."

You can then add some juicy details about what you like about
her NOW.

When ALL of the above is finished - then you can say, "I love you."

Do this and you'll be singing at the moon all night long.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Burns Fat Faster Than Cardio

Had a good question from a reader yesterday and I'm
going to cover it now.

Matt,

I have a question regarding Combat Conditioning in regards to
fat loss. We are always told that to burn fat you need cardio
and more importantly, you need cardio that maintains a steady
elevated heart rate for at least a half hour.

Now, it seems to me that a rank beginner to the CC routine who
isnt in the best of shape would probably have a 15-20, maybe
even 25 mintute routine. My question is, could one forego a
separate cardio routine and soley rely on CC for fat loss.

I ask because I dont own a bicycle, I dont have access to a pool,
and its currently too cold to be swimming in the ocean where I live
(NJ). My one option for cardio at the moment is either walking (which
I find boring), or jogging (which I love but which aggravates my shin
splints). So, I have a very vested interest in wondering whether or not
CC is not only viable for creating lean muscle, but also for far loss.

After all, it does no good to have lean muscles if you cant see them
underneath the blubber.

Thank you in advance for any insights or advice that you can give.

Sincerely,
S.D.

M.F. S.D, so glad you asked these questions. To answer, let me begin
by talking about some of my relatives - those Fure-cats that come in various
shapes and sizes and generally live outdoors. Yes, I'm talking about cheetahs,
lions, tigers, panthers, leopards, and so on.

Last time I checked, all the cats listed above were in pretty fine shape. They
are fast as lightning. They are the world's greatest killing machines. They are
flexible, strong and powerful. And they don't do ANY LSD (long slow distance)
cardio.

On the other hand, our friendly antelope, does mucho cardio. He's also strong
and fast - and lean. Even so, I wouldn't bet on him surviving a cage match with any
of the cats mentioned earlier.

Other than hard sprints, climbing and stretching - cats don't do much to maintain
their lean, lithe physiques. In fact, they don't need to sprint very often to stay
lean and powerful. One good burst a day is usually enough.

There's something to learn from this, me thinks.

Yes, you can burn fat by doing long-distance cardio. But you can burn fat faster
with total body calisthenics, hill sprints, dynamic deep breathing, and so on.
Time and again members of the Furey Faithful report inches of blubber dropping
off their bodies - and this was from a few minutes a day of Combat Conditioning
and Combat Abs. Not the 20 to 25 minute routines you envisioned.

In the beginning, most beginners are unable to do more than 3 or 4 minutes of
my program. Most people, even those who can squats several hundred pounds,
cannot do more than 40 straight Hindu Squats. The same goes for Hindu Pushups.
Even seasoned exercise fanatics often stop at 25. As for the bridge, if you can hold
for a minute in the beginning, you're an exception to the rule.

What I have just outlined will take you approximately 3-4 minutes when you begin.
Once you get into great shape, the workout may go 20-30 minutes, or longer, if you
so desire. But make no mistake about this: It is NOT how LONG you train - it is WHAT
you do WHEN you train.

Give the Royal Court in Combat Conditioning and the Magnificent Seven in Combat
Abs a whirl - and you'll soon have the understanding of these truths. On the other
hand, if you sit on the couch or at the computer, considering, wondering and ponder-
ing, you'll gain nothing.

The rewards in life go to those who DO - not to those who speculate.

I suggest you get involved in the Matt Furey Inner Circle because all the books I've

Takes Monkeys Off Your Back

You've got more and more to do and less and less
time to do it. Your time seems like it's spinning out
of control. When you sit to complete a task you try
to do something else at the same time.

Your mind is being pulled in many different directions.
The laundry list of "musts" is a mile long and keeps
growing - even when you're working on it.

How then, on earth, do you get things done?

Simple.

Stop trying to do more than one thing at a time.

Relax. Breathe deeply. And focus on only one thing at
a time.

You cannot really do more than one thing at a time anyway -
not very well, at least. So when you work, take the mental
monkeys off your back. Let go of the stress in your upper
traps and neck. Let your shoulders drop. Inhale deeply
and focus.

Work on only one thing until you're ready to stop working on that
one thing. Then go to the next.

Funny story. Steve Chandler, author of Reinventing Yourself and
The Story of You and How to Create a New One - where he features
me in one of the chapters - has the same philosophy that I have
about time management - http://www.stevechandler.com

One thing at a time.

Anyway, Steve and I were talking on the phone a few weeks ago. He
told me he was amazed at how I get so much done each day; how
I'm able to write a couple emails per day; how I'm able to write 3
newsletter a month as well as make a couple CD's, as well as
coach over 100 people.

While he was saying this I was wondering how HE gets all his books
written. Everytime I blink he's got another one done.

Dr. Maxwell Maltz, author of the 30 million copies best-seller, Psycho-
Cybernetics, believed in doing one thing at a time, too. He wrote one
book after the other for many years - and in between writing he was
doing surgeries to repair scars and other facial deformities.

In addition to that he was flying around the world giving seminars.

How did Dr. Maltz get things done?

Same way Steve does. Same way I do. One thing at a time.

If you focus on one thing at a time - you'll be amazed at how much
you get done. Far more than you will when you've got 100 monkeys
crawling on your back.

The biggest key for me is beginning the day with a powerful mind-focusing
visualization, then recalling that mental movie throughout the day. The best
examples on how to do this are in the Zero Resistance Living course - at
http://www.psycho-cybernetics.com/zrlcourse.html

Use these techniques and watch how fast you get things done. As for the
list that's a mile long - it'll be just fine. Don't worry - focus on one thing -
not the laundry list.

Sponge Bob Knows Psycho-Cybernetics

It made me do a double-take.

Yesterday my son, Frank, and daughter, Faith, were
watching their favorite cartoon: Sponge Bob - Square
Pants.

I was reading and responding to emails from people in
my coaching group when I heard a number of powerful
phrases coming out of the television.

"I'm going to use my imagination. I'm going to imagine myself
on the big screen," I heard one character say.

I looked up and the cast of cartoon characters were staring at
a big screen. I was stunend. The writers for Sponge Bob were
showcasing a staple of Psycho-Cybernetics called "Theatre
of the Mind."

Seeing this as an opportunity to teach my son something important,
I started a conversation. "Frank, did you hear that? They're talking
about the power of your imagination. They're letting you know that
your imagi-nation is the most powerful nation on earth."

Frank looked at me and said, "It is?"

"Yes, it is. Not only that, but do you know what the biggest room in
our home is?"

"Uh, the toilet," he said, making a joke.

"Good one, Frank. But that's not the answer. The biggest room in our
home is the ROOM for Improvment. And you improve your life first
and foremost by using your imagination. You imagine what you want before
you do something so that you can create the result you want. Your imagination
is your creative power center. When you imagine what you want in the form
of a mental picture or movie, then add a lot of emotion into the picture - you
can create the thing you're imagining."

"Nobody ever told me that BEFORE," said Frank.

"I've told you this before in different ways," I said." But today I'm giving you
a bit more on the subject because you're ready for it. Let's take your favorite
football players as an example. Take Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or Joe
Montana. All these great quarterbacks don't just practice. They don't just work
out and train hard. They also imagine what they want. They form a mental image of
throwing a touchdown pass BEFORE they throw the ball. And because they
imagine what they want first - they get very different results from the quarter-
back who is merely throwing passes."

"When I'm playing I imagine the score is 68-24. I played in one game where the score
was 85 to 72," Frank shouted.

"You must have scored everytime you touched the ball," I said.

"Oh yeah. Oh yeah. And in one game I'm going to kick a field goal."

"How about you put 60,000 fans in the stadium when you do it," I added.

"Yeah, and it's the game winning field goal," he said.

"And after you drill it through the uprights, the crowd goes nuts. They're
cheering your name and your teammates are carrying you off the field.
How do you like that one?" I asked.

"COOL," he exclaimed.

"Just remember this: You don't just imagine. You train your body and
you imagine. And when you do BOTH at the same time, that's when you
are on the way to greatness. You don't just jump rope and run sprints
and do pullups and situps. You imagine what you want WHILE you do
these things."

The above might sound like nothing more than a conversation with my
son about how to become a great athlete. Yet, the very same thinking
applies to anything you want in life. You imagine what you want first.
And if you combine physical training with the use of your creative
imagination - then look out. You'll be in a league of your own.

Now that my son has heard about the power of his imagination, I'll be
teaching him more and more details about how to picture things in his
mind - on the big screen, like Sponge Bob - as well as in the arena of
his mind.

Six years old is a good age to start. So is 26, 46, 76 and 96. It's never
too late to start tapping into the creative power of your imagination.

In January, Rev. Dr. William V., told me that after 51 years of marriage,
applying the principles of Psycho-Cybernetics has deepened his relationship
with his wife. "You wouldn't believe that after 51 years a marriage can go
deeper," he said, "but ours defniitely has. What you are doing is amazing."

Secrets of Superior Stretching

Earlier today I was working out with a couple guys
in a gymnastics center. After doing a few sets of
Hindu Pushups, squats and bridging, I began to
work on my backbend.

This means falling into a back bridge from a standing
position.

Now, most people would consider me as having a pretty
phenomenal bridge, especially considering my size. Yet,
I'm always looking to improve - so I pulled the school's
coach to the side and said, 'Got any more tips on what
I can do to make my bridge better?'

He walked into the other room with me. I demonstrated
what I was doing, then told him I felt stuck and wanted to
move to another level in this exercise.

Next thing you know, he has me doing a couple exercises
I'd never seen before. I got into position and executed them
as best I could. And I started feeling muscles I wasn't hitting
fully before.

When I came out of the bridge, I was feeling euphoric. Had
blood hitting the noggin at a faster rate of speed. My it felt
good. It's the sort of feeling that comes with a breakthrough
in your life.

'You realize you stretched a foot farther than before, don't
you?' said the coach.

'A foot,' I questioned. 'Are you serious.'

'Yes, you moved a foot further than before. The exercise I
gave you forced more weight forward. Amazing, huh.'

I set a time to work with him next week - not because I need
to, but because I want to. I want to get even more out of my
body - in part because I realize that the more I get from my
body, the more I get from my mind.

After a good workout, after a session in which I get my body
to open up at a deeper level - there is always a corresponding
opening in the mental and spiritual realm - if you look for it.
The reason this is so is simple: Your mind, body and soul are
interconnected to begin with. It's just that we've been taught
to separate them so we can study them.

That's fine - yet it has it's limitations. Causes much confusion,
me thinks. You've got so-called intellectuals who think they're
smart because they don't exercise or play sports. They can
brag about their academic smarts all they want - but if they
have a hang-over gut, they're missing something upstairs.

Want to be smart. Then train your body and get it to do
what you want it to. You'll quickly find, the moment you
begin to exercise, that your mind, your intellect and your
imagination, are the keys that determine whether or not
you get fit - as well as HOW fit you get.

Not convinced. Fine, then go for a walk and pay attention
to your thoughts. Find out whose in charge of your body
as you listen to the internal babble going on. Find out whose
in charge as you see the images you paint in your imagination.

You'll find the same stranger who will stretch your body and your
mind to a new dimension - if you'll say the magic word ... 'yes.'

Want to stretch further. Then become a member of the Matt Furey
Inner Circle - http://www.mattfurey.com/furey_inner_circle.html

With your membership you'll receive 7 gifts as well as access to ou
