Abs and Seks Go Together
The other day I wrote about deep breathing exercises
and abdominal muscle flexing, and how when you do
them the way I teach in my book, Combat Abs - http://mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html - there are
many, many possible benefits, including:
* Reduced waistline
* Increased endurance
* Improved regularity - bowels
* Much stronger abs
* A powerful core
* Radiant energy
* Elimination of urinary incontinence
In addition to the above, it's a well known "insider
secret" amongst those who've followed my program,
that the deep breathing and muscle flexing I teach
can also lead to greatly enhanced seks.
I further stated that a lot of men and women have bought
into kegeling and other pelvic floor exercises. And although
these exercises are helpful to men and women alike when it
comes to exercising your mattress muscles - these same
exercises go limp when compared to the Farmer Burns
Stomach Flattener.
You can kegel, kegel, kegel and it won't reduce your
waistline a zillimeter. On the other hand, you cannot
do the Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener without also
strengthening your perineum and other pelvic muscles.
It's not possible to isolate your abs with this exercise -
even if you wanted to.
When you do the Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener you
focus on your abs like never before, sending vital qi
to the area - you then mix it with your intention
to have a superb looking waistline.
When you do this you strengthen all the weak
links from your diaphragm thru your buttocks -
including everything internally. This means
your internal organs are being helped - not
just your muscles.
Your intestines get a vigorous massage from the
Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener - which increases
the peristaltic movement necessary for bowel regularity.
Your bladder, perineum and seksual organs get a
powerful dose of training as well - something these
areas are not getting from your typical abdominal
routine.
As a result you can count on improved seksual
health - for male and female, from doing the
Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener - as taught in
Combat Abs - http://mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html
A few other exercises which help improve seksual function
are:
1. Rope skipping - this action stimulates the kidney point
on the foot which improves overall seksual health
2. Hindu pushups - the bending and arching of the spine,
along with abdominal flexing, helps tremendously
3. Bridging - I show several types of bridging in Combat
Conditioning - http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html -
start with what you can do and progress naturally. If unable to
do the bridge, look into doing the ....
4. Tablemaker - also found in Combat Conditioning - this
exercise works your core, your legs, hips, buttocks, arm,
shoulders - damn near everything.
Well, there you have, my friend. A few more ways to inject
spring in your step, lead into your pencil - and so on.

Do it or Die
When I was struggling one day in the Iowa
wrestling room, I started to whine.
One of the coaches came up to me and said,
"What's wrong."
"I can't do anything right. I can't even get a
takedown today."
"Oh yeah," said the coach. "If I put a gun to
your head, and you either get a takedown or
you die - could you get one then."
I paused for a moment.
"Uh, yeah," I said.
"Well, that means you can get a takedown. No
shut up and get back out there."
I got to my feet and trained harder and with more
concentration than ever before. And I didn't just
get one takedown that same day, I got several.
I never forgot the lesson. I recall it often whenever
I think, even for a fraction of a second, that "I can't"
do something.
It's puts the opinion, the limiting belief, to the ultimate
test.
Even so, the test is simply a question - a metaphor.
Nothing more.
But imagine that you took a VOW in which you either
accomplished what you set out to do - or you would
take your own life.
Tis not something we would even consider in our
culture.
But Sakai Yusai, aka "The japanese Superman" - he
took this type of vow.
He agreed to run 1,000 marathons through the mountains
of Mt. Hiei in Kyoto - in seven years - or take his own life.
He is only one of 46 monks who passed the test in over
100 years.
Each day he left his quarters dressed in white, the color of
death - as a reminder that today may be his very last day
on earth. Tucked inside his clothing was a knife, a white
handkerchief and a rope (for hanging).
In the event he ever reached a point where he could not
continue, he was to take his own life.
Now let's talk about Getting Tough. Let's talk about being
100% committed. Let's talk about focus.
1000 marathons - done 100 days at a time - without missing
a day - in seven years.
I met Sakai Yusai, whom the Japanese consider a Living Buddha
or saint - last April. He and I hit it off like we'd known each
other for eons. I asked him if he'd like to come to America to
speak at one of my seminars.
He agreed.
He'll be here in Tampa, in May, and if I were YOU - I'd make sure
to grab one of the seats in the audience.
I assure you hearing this man's story and meeting him in person
will be a life-changing experience for you. It will go beyond
anything you can currently imagine.

there are still seats available.

No More Morning Breath
Ever since you can remember, you got
up in the morning with dragon breath.
You had to go brush your teeth - or else
disturb the entire neighborhood.
Not only that, but as you got a bit older,
you may have had to resort to breath mints,
mouth washes, special gums, etc. to mask the
odor.
What a way to go through life, huh.
And everyone I have ever known is a victim
of this foul smelling stench.
Even the raw foodists, vegans, vegetarians,
fruitarians and breatharians. Not to mention
those on high-protein diets consisting of
meat, meat and ... more meat.
BTW, did you know I was once a breatharian. It's
true. But I gave it up after a few hours.
All kidding aside, I have stumbled across some
pretty amazing information - and I'm going to
cover it in the March 2008 issue of the Matt
Furey Inner Circle newsletter.
In this issue I'm going to tell you how you can
wake up each morning with something far more
pleasant than dragon breath. You won't stink like
the dawn of the living dread.
You'll still want to brush your teeth - but it won't
be because your breath will knock people over
backwards. You'll simply brush your teeth because
it's a good idea.
Now, in case you think I'm full of beans - which I
do not advise eating - especially if you want to
smell good - I will stretch your mind even
further by saying that my newest secret can quite
possibly help you eliminate the need for deodorant.
That's right.
Now more lubing your armpits to cover the stench.
No more anti-sweat glop for your skin. No more
concern about driving people insane with the smell
of dead cattle coming from beneath your shoulders.
Are you mildly to very interested.
Then make sure you take a test-drive of the Matt
Furey Inner Circle. I'm going to let y'all in on this
extraordinary information - but you must be prepared to
act immediately.
This is big, big news. I've never heard it written about
or discussed anywhere ever before.
This may truly change your life and your relationships
in ways you cannot yet fathom.
So go to http://www.mattfurey.com/fg324trfsr3ttai.html
and take me up on my test-drive.
You won't regret it - that I guarantee.

P.S. Also coming in March, a DVD of part one of last year's

men had to do.
Better Seks With 5 Second Abs

muscle flexing I teach in Combat Abs, like so many
others, you may enjoy the following benefits:

Why Your Mirror Suks
Here's something you might not know:
When many people get dressed each day,
they take a look in the mirror. And if they look
too fat - they blame the MIRROR.
Not kidding.
It's the mirror's fault they look so bad.
Interestingly enough, these same people do NOT
want to look in the mirror when they have no
clothes on.
The reason: They can't blame the mirror for how
they look. Sure ... they could - but it's a bit
unpleasant.
I completely understand this situation. The
toughest thing you'll ever have to do in life
is face yourself squarely, with clothes off,
and say, "You know something buddy, you're
to blame for this. This is your own damn fault."
Yes, you may have terrible mirrors in your home.
I empathize. I really do.
So here are two ways to fix them:
1. You buy the very best mirrors you can and put
them up in your bathroom so you always get
a front and rear view of yourself - simultaneously.
2. You fix the person in the mirror and the mirror
suddenly transforms itself into a wonderful show
piece.
Seriously, whether your mirrors are bad or great,
chances are you will benefit a great deal by standing
buck nekked before them.
Take a good look.
As much as you'd like to blame the mirror, or Sarry
Flea, or Dunk Me Doughnuts Or Pizza Schlut or MacDangles,
it's really YOU who is to blame.
No one else.
Moreover, YOU are never going to improve one iota so
long as you fix blame on all the other dimwits out
there.
Here's my suggestion: Stand before mirror. Accept
responsibility for your condition. Blame yourself
completely. Breathe deeply. Picture the new you
and begin flexing your body from head to toe,
pretending to be the NEW YOU.
As you're doing this, make sure you do some Hindu squats - http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html - as well as
Hindu Pushups, sidebends, vacuums and the Farmer Burns
Stomach Flattener - http://mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html
While doing these exercises, see yourself at your best, the
way you looked in your prime. Mentally pretend you're
there once again.
And if there is ever a day when you're too lazy, or you feel
like giving up or quitting - you remember you're part of the
Furey Faithful. You slap yourself across the face. You slap
your backside a time or two as well. You thump yourself
across the chest.
Then you look right into your eyes and say ...
Get Tough.
If you will do this for 21 days - you'll have a habit pattern
you won't want to break for the rest of your life.
Not only that, you'll see and FEEL major results long before
you hit day 21.
Give yourself a whirl. Turn your life around.

The Question
Find a selection of champion athletes and
coaches. Ask each one this question: How
much of your success is mental.
You'll have a tough time finding anyone who
will say less than 80%. Most will say 90%. Or
more.
Take any group of millyunair entrepreneurs
and ask them the same question: How much
of your business success is mental.
If you find anyone who says less than 90%,
he's lying.
Why. Because all success is mental.
Sure, some people are genetically more predisposed
to do certain things well, but if this same person takes
his skills for granted and does not enhance them with
practice, he will be surpassed by someone with less
talent who has a great willingness to practice hard
and focus.
Now we come to the subject of fitness. I don't care whether
it's increased strength, speed, flexibility, power, endurance -
or simply dropping excess flabola - the same question applies.
How much of strength, endurance, power, flexibility or
weight loss is MENTAL.
The answer is the same: 90% or more.
Now, you may argue that it's all about taking action. That it's
all about doing the right things.
Damn right it is. But WHO are the people who DO the right
things with the right mental attitude.
The whiners or the DOERS.
Who are the people who ACT with enthusiasm.
You'll find they are the people who have goals, who have
plans to fulfill those goals, who have patience, persistence,
guts, determination, desire and so on.
These qualities are mental skills transferred to the physical.
All champions, all winners - are the people who know that
success is first and foremost a mental process.
Here's a simple example: Let me ask, what time do you get
out of bed each day.
Okay, fine.
Now, when you get out of bed, are you tired or enthusiastic.
Do you hit the snooze button a few times before getting up.
Do you stroll to the shower with your eyes barely open or
do you move with excitement for the new day that has
dawned.
As you answer all of the above, think about the mental picture
you have in mind for each. Why. Because I guarantee you that
the way you get out of bed is in direct accord with the mental
picture you have of yourself waking up each day. All the way
down to the TIME you choose to get up.
Think about this.
Think about it before you go to bed tonight. Picture yourself
getting up early to do the exercises I have for you in Combat
Conditioning - http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html
and Combat Abs - http://mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html
Picture yourself looking in the mirror at the end of your
workout, celebrating another mental/physical victory.
I dare you to form this mental picture before bed and NOT
have it come true. I dare you.
When you do as I advise, you will know what it means to ...
Get Tough.

Why Train Your Abs Every Day
Here's a great question that many of you might
also have:
Hello Matt,
I've been thinking about this question for several
weeks now and I'm finally taking it to the master
himself. I own both "Combat Conditioning" and
"Combat Abs."
You suggest that the Magnificent 7 be done every
morning but in the question and answer section,
you allow for at least doing them 3x's a week.
The question: Do you think it would be practical/
beneficial to alternate doing The Royal Court every
other day and alternating with The Magnificent 7
in between days or would that approach be
counter-productive to reaping the benefits of
one over the other.
I appreciate your time and advice.
Thank You.
Terry T.
MJF: Terry, the Magnificent 7 found in Combat Abs
http://mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html - is not nearly
as difficult to perform as the Royal Court in Combat
Conditioning - http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html
That's the first thing to keep in mind.
Doing the Mag 7 every morning will keep your bowels regular
due to what I call the "Cosmic Fiber Effect." Most people today
have irregularity in going numero dos - and so this can help
a great deal.
Next, the Mag 7 will energize your system because of the deep
breathing.
Of the seven exercises, only two are going to push you into a
sweat, the other five are mostly to keep you limber, loose and
flexible in your waist, spine and hips. Very important to the
functioning of your core.
I think it's not asking too much to do the Mag 7 on the days
you do Combat Conditioning. You can whip through a shorter
version of the program if you'd like. Reduce the numbers in
half if you'd like.
Even so, as I've stated, you can do the Mag 7 once a day or
three times a week. You can alternate between both programs
if that is more to your liking.
The biggest key to success is getting on a program and following
it because of your strong desire to be happy, healthy and fit.
Don't look for excuses NOT to train. Look for reasons to do
it - the foremost of which is that when finished, you can
look in the mirror, smile, pump both fists heavenward and
proclaim, "Good work Terry. You did it again. You remembered
to 'Get Tough.' You won another mental game with yourself."

Does 5 Second Abs Work
Testimonials on the effectivenes of the Farmer Burns
Stomach Flattener, as seen in my best-selling book,
Combat Abs - http://www.mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html
are poring in.
One man wrote to say he's dropped four inches from his
waist inside of three weeks - and just as I wrote, his digestion
has shown a marked improvement.
In Farmer Burns 1914 by-mail course, 'Lessons in Wrestling
and Physical Culture' - http://www.mattfurey.com/farmerburns.html -
he said the same thing. In fact, Burns also, referring to the subject
of deep breathing, said - 'Deep breathing along has made many a
weak man strong and many a sick man well.'
The whole reason why the Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener works
is because of the deep breathing combined with flexing and tensing
of the abdominal muscles. Simply flex and tense the abdominals
and you don't have much. The whole key lies in the mixture.
The greatest thing about this exercise is that you can do it
virtually anywhere and no one else has to know. It's your little
workout secret.
You can do it at your desk. In a car. On a plane. In the shower.
Even while doing other exercises.
It truly is remarkable.
Be sure to make Five Second Abs part of your everyday routine -

The Real Power in NOW
You can try to live in the future - or in the past,
yet it's impossible. All you have is NOW.
But you can use your present moments to recall
the past - as well as to visualize the future. You
can also use your now to by aware of your thinking,
breathing and doing - as they are taking place in
this moment.
Whichever you choose, it's still NOW. And there's
great power in knowing this. Really knowing this.
Why. Because once you understand the past and
future can only be experienced NOW - you
realize that everything you think or believe about
what has already happened or will happen - is
nothing but a mental movie. And if the past and
future are nothing but mental movies, you can
write the script, direct the action, call the shots,
decide on which frames to keep and which to
throw out. You can even be the audience to all
of what you're doing.
In fact, you ARE the audience.
Whenever you remember the past or visualize
the future, it's not just YOU in the picture - it's
You and your other self - the one who is either
praising you or condemning you.
Which are you doing to yourself today. If you're
looking at your past and finding the good moments,
you're giving yourself the praise you need to perform
at your best in the NOW.
If, however, you're condemning what you see in the
past, you're making it even harder for yourself to
do well in this moment.
Whether you realize it or not, all the movies in your
mind that make up your past - you already directed
them, edited them and played them a certain way.
The good news is that you can do a re-make of the
old movies. You can reshoot them and package them
to your liking. You can take a sad story and turn it
into a happy one.
If you were to look at my ears, even from a distance
of 10 feet, you'd probably notice that they are dis-
figured. In wrestling and boxing, my ears are known
as cauliflower ears. They look a bit like doorknobs
made in Mongolia.
If the average person were to have ears like mine,
he or she would think of it as awful. But not me -
and not most wrestlers, grapplers and boxers who
have them. We think they're great. We consider them
a badge of honor. We wear them with pride. They are
our battle scars. Wrestlers who have them had to be
tough. Wrestlers who don't have them were most
likely average, at best.
That's the story we tell ourselves to justify the knobs
we call ears.
Think of this. If I can look at my ears in a positive light,
then I can take anything from my past and figure out a
way to make it a good thing.
Granted, some of our memories are not easy to recall.
When we watch them we may feel a sense of horror, or
anger, or guilt.
But if we will take a step back; maybe even several steps
back; and consider that the past and the future are mere
movies in our minds, we can make a change in how we
feel in the present. If we'll consider that we have the
ability to turn our horror flicks into something better -
well then, we then know the REAL POWER in NOW.
Note: Good news. We just put up my Super Human Success -

Don't Just Sit There
It's not often discussed. Yet it's a major key
to developing your mental and spiritual
strength.
Most students of success have trouble getting
results because they are physically lazy. They
want to just sit there and visualize. Or say
positive affirmations. Or write their goals in
a notebook. Or listen to peaceful music. Or
do a series of chants or prayers.
All of the above are good.
But what about doing something physical.
The human being needs to blow off steam
on a regular basis to feel good. Whether it's
punching a bag, going for a walk, swimming,
cycling or practicing martial arts - a physical
release does more than relax you physically.
It puts you back together.
It doesn't just give you a balance of body, mind
and spirit. It gives you all three - wrapped up in
one - as one.
An elite martial artist doesn't think body, mind,
spirit. He may talk in these terms to make what
he's saying understandable to those who aren't
integrated. But to him, he's talking about all
three whenever he's talking about one.
From time to time I like to shoot free throws to
observe this process in action in an area where
I'm no expert. I find it amazing when I sink one
after another - as well as when I miss several in
a row.
What's the difference.
When I'm successful, I am fully connected to the
ball and basket. When I'm not, mind, body and
spirit are scattered throughout the gym.
Do something physical each day and your ability
to breathe, visualize and manifest will go off the
charts.

Sad Stories Can't Stop You
Yesterday I received a ton of email about my
"Get Tough" position on fitness.
Most of it was in total agreement.
One person wrote to try and help me come up
with a better way to say "Get Tough" - suggesting
"Get Mental." He then admitted to being "on the
other side of the fence" in terms of fitness right
now.
I told him to "Get Tough" and stop trying to help
me with my marketing when his body oughta be
on the top of his "To-do" list.
A couple other people wrote me their very long and
very sad stories, detailing why they aren't in shape
right now.
Although their stories were well told and I fully
understand how life can be tough - the fact is
that YOU can make a choice to be TOUGHER
than whatever happens to you in your life.
Damn right it's hard some times. Real, real hard.
Nevertheless, the truth is still the truth.
You can make a choice to rise above circumstances
and become MORE than you are right now. You
will not be the first who has made a choice to be
bigger than your problems - nor will you be the
last. But you WILL join an elite group of winners
when you make the choice. You'll be thinking and
acting the way champions think and act.
And THAT is a very positive thing.
Getting tough is a state of mind. That's why it's often
referred to as "mental toughness."
You give your mind and body a command to be BIGGER
than you think you are - and pretty soon - you are.
In every area of my life I have succeeded in, I used to be
a wimp. What lead to the change. The willingness to see
myself in a new way, to think different and to say, "To hell
with circumstances. I make circumstances. They don't make
me."
If you agree, then celebrate with a set of Hindu pushups -
as found in my international best-seller, Combat Conditioning -

7 Suggestions to Follow
This morning my son, Frank, walked into the bathroom
when I was shaving. He noticed a stop watch next to the
sink.
"Daddy, what are you timing yourself for," he asked.
"So I get you to school on time," I said. "I give
myself four minutes to shave. If I don't time myself
I'll take too much time and you'll be late because of
me. The timer keeps me honest."
After shaving I walked into the living room and saw
my daughter, waiting for me.
"Let's go. Let's go," I said. "Get in the car now. We
want to be on time. I'll be out in a minute."
My kids marched to the car, got in and I soon
followed.
On the way to their respective schools I joked around
with them and talked about the power of Imagination -
and how they can imagine themselves getting smarter
and smarter - learning faster and faster. I talked about
SEEING the report card you want with the marks you'd
like written all over it.
I can assure you this was not the first time I have
told them this. Nor will it be the last.
In order to be successful, repetition is paramount. And
you cannot repeat something valuable too often. First
you plant the seed - then you water and fertilize it.
This is what you do when raising children; this is what
you do when coaching yourself.
It's not coincidental that many of our greatest thinkers
can rattle off a string of their favorite quotes, from
memory.
Ever wonder why. It's because they continually reinforced
the good things they needed to learn.
When John Wooden, the great coach at UCLA was in grade
school, his father gave him a card entitled, 7 Suggestions
to Follow.
They were:
1. Be true to yourself.
2. Help others.
3. Make each day your masterpiece.
4. Drink deeply from good books, especially the
Good Book.
5. Make friendship a fine art.
6. Build a shelter for a rainy day.
7. Pray for guidance, and count and give thanks for your
blessings each day.
Wooden, now 97, still keeps the card with him and recalls
it often.
Such a simple thing, really.
Daily reinforcement of the basics can and will take you
all the way to the top.
Why - because so much of being successful is remembering
what to think and what to do. Most people forget far too soon.
The great ones don't. They remember to remember.
Remember that.
Matthew Furey
P.S. The Zero Resistance Living program will help you remember
to remember. It's like a stop watch before you at all times. Keeping

Get Tough
For the last 27 years I've ended most personal
conversations, as well as most emails with the
phrase, "Kick ass - take names."
Later on, for the Internet I changed the three-
letter word to "butt" or "arse" - depending on
the occasion.
Today I want to go a step further and say what I
mean in two words: GET TOUGH.
Now, just to make sure you know where I'm coming
from - the words "Get Tough" are not about being
physically tough. They are about being mentally
tough.
Why. Because you cannot be physically tough if
you're not mentally tough. All super human change
begins in the mind. You can take a physical weakling
and turn him or her into a powerful human being IF
the person will toughen up mentally.
Yes, you can ignore the "get tough" part of training
and make progress - but it will be the type of progress
you could rightly compare to watching paint dry.
On the other side of the fence, the person who
recognizes the need for mental toughness - he's
the one who will go the furthest.
When I was at the University of Iowa, Dan Gable had
us do many, many things that were designed to condition
our minds and bodies at the same time. The result was
one national championship after another - altogether, 15
team titles in 21 seasons.
I have never forgotten his lessons and have used them to
succeed in much more than sports or fitness. And I'd like
you to have a chance to learn from him as well. That's why
this May, I'm bringing him in to speak at my Get Tough
Fitness Challenge - to be held right here in Tampa.
In addition to Gable, I have another man, a monk from Japan,
coming in who no doubt ranks up there with the most mentally
tough people who've ever lived.
I'll tell you more about him very soon, when I formally
announce the details about the Get Tough Fitness Challenge.
For now, suffice to say that this monk, known as the Japanese
Superman, took on a goal of doing 1,000 marathons and
double-marathons within seven years, through the mountains;
rain, sleet or snow. And if he failed to accomplish the feat he
was prepared to take his own life.
And the marathons and double-marathons are only PART of
what he chose to do.
I tell you this because if there is one thing that all of us can
use more of - myself included - it's mental toughness.
That's why, from now on, I'm going to cut way back on, if
not eliminate the "Kick butt - take names" phrase I'm world
famous for.
In place of it, I'm going to use the two words I began this
email with - or a variation thereof.
Those two words really cut to the heart of the message that
I want to instill in everyone who gets Combat Conditioning-
http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html -or any of
my other products.
The key to your success is not being a whiner, complainer or
excuse maker. The key to your success is the creation of a
"Man (or Woman) of Steel" within.
Think about it.
And ...
Get Tough,

will come later this week. Be ready to enroll immediately.
An event like this will never repeat and you'll hate yourself
if you miss out.
How Much is Too Much
Got a question from someone about long distance
running and how to pass a 2-mile test:
Hey Matt,
I just ordered your book, but had a few questions. I
am currently in Officer Candidate School which focuses
a lot on distance running. A lot of what I have read
about your ideas have eliminated distance running from
your training regiment. i will still have to perform
my 2-mile run for my APFT. What do you suggest to help
me improve on this, since this is an area that I can
not neglect. I am still nursing a leg that I broke
this last year, and running is a real pain. But I
really have no option. Can you help a guy out.
Thanks,
Officer Candidate
Kelly
MJF: Kelly, 2 miles is NOT long distance. Neither is a
mile. For some people it might seem like long-distance,
but it's not. Running a brisk pace mile or two is something
I am in agreement on. Back in 1990, I ran the Honolulu
Marathon -placing 1,101 out of over 13,000 runners. I'm
glad I ran it - and I have respect for those who engage in
long distance pursuits. I just don't think it is the best way
to train for a lot of people. For some, it is. They like it and
if it is what makes them happy, I say do it.
My main concern about long-distance running is the amount
of people who end up needing knee and hip replacements
due to all the pounding. Then again, there are a lot of lazy
loafers who end up needing joint replacement too - so go
figure.
Regarding the leg you broke last year and are still nursing.
Maybe nursing it is not such a good idea. Get tough. You
may be surprised what will happen to the pain if you tell
it to relax and go away. You can even mentally picture
this happening - and the results can be surprising.
Make a plan to pass your test - then give it all you've
got and I'm betting you do well.
Follow the Hindu squats, Hindu pushups and bridging in
Combat Conditioning and you'll run circles around the
others - http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html

Why Whining is Self-Destructive
When I had my gym in California, I created a
"No Whining Rule" so I wouldn't have to listen
to all the cry babies who weren't willing to put
100% into what they were doing.
I printed it out, framed it and put it in the gym, where
everyone could easily see it. Then I put it on a sheet of
acceptable protocol and gave it to every member.
90% of the whining stopped, right then and there, simply
because I let everyone know that you never succeed by
whining, complaining or making excuses. Instead, you
succeed by saying to yourself, if success is to be, it is
UP to ME.
The result: Success rate went through the roof.
The reason I'm against whining is simple. Whenever you
whine you're giving power to circumstances and taking
it away from yourself. You're claiming that you can't
do anything because everything is outside of your
control.
It isn't. And it is amazing how your circumstances change
when you stop whining and begin adopting the belief that
if success is to be, it is up to me.
For every person whining about how pitiful his life and
circumstances are, you can find plenty of examples of
those who had it worse, yet rose to even higher levels of
greatness because of the adversity.
How did the victors rise above the so-called victim status.
By focusing on a goal; by taking time to "be still." By using
their imagination creatively to plan a new way of being -
and by rolling up their sleeves and doing whatever must
be done to change things for the better.

The Journey is Most Important
Oh the frustration I hear in peoples' voices -
as well as in their letters and emails.
Almost always this frustration is due to having
the wrong view of life - the wrong object to
focus on.
I will tell you something that may shock and
startle you. You may not even believe it but
it's true.
My greatest successes in life have come when
the journey to success itself was more fulfilling
than the goal itself.
Let me explain.
In 1997, when the final buzzer sounded in
the world championship match in Beijing,
China, I assumed my hand would be raised
in victory even though the score ended, 2-2.
The rules stated that in the event of a tie, the
person who scores first wins.
Yet, for my match, the Chinese referees changed
the rules and raised my opponent's hand in victory.
Upon the rendering of this decision, with a smile
on my face, I walked over to my wife, who was
visibly upset. I shrugged, put my hand on her
shoulder and said, "Hey, don't worry about it.
When in China, do as the Chinese do."
I had just lost the world championship and this
was how I responded.
Why.
Because I knew in my heart that I had given my
very best. I knew I competed at a level way beyond
anything I had ever done before - and that knowledge
was more important to me than whether I won or lost.
If I ended up getting silver or bronze or nothing at all
- so long as I gave my very, very best - then in my
opinion, I would go home a winner. And if I were to
have won while giving a half-baked effort - well, how
can you feel proud of that. Where's the honor and glory
in victory with no struggle.
That's how I think.
Yes, I did go to China expecting to win the gold medal.
And yes I wanted to win it - but when it came time to
compete my focus was NOT on winning. It was on giving
everything I had.
To my surprise, a minute or two after losing the decision,
I was brought back onto the mat and an announcement
was made.
The referee reversed the decision and declared me the
world champion.
Being denied my gold medal in the first place made winning
it much sweeter.
When it comes to business, once again, my greatest successes
have not come by "chasing" or pursuing the almighty doll-hair.
They have come as a result of focusing on the right actions with
the right intention behind them. And that intention is the desire
to do my best. To give my business everything I've got.
That's it.
Most frustrated business people are frustrated because their
focus is on the muney - not on doing their best - not on
giving it everything they've got.
At the end of the day they evaluate themselves based on what
they made - not on what they DID. This type of thinking will
always end up killing you and your dreams.
In business I have good days, great days, fabulous days and
bad days -in terms of income. But at the end of each I am
the same person. You never hear me whining or complaining.
Why. Because my focus is on what I'm doing.
The muney, the other rewards, they come as a result of doing
the right things in the right way.
Doing your very best is what matters most of all in life. If you
achieve a goal without doing your best - I don't think of that
as a success.
If you want to put an end to feelings of frustration, put your
focus on what you are doing - and once your focus is there,
ask yourself, over and over, "Is this my best. Is this MY BEST."

My Opinion of Tai Chi
Some time ago, after launching a new product, The
Chinese Long-Life System, several readers wrote to
ask what I think of tai chi and how the new program
compares to tai chi.
My answer is two or three-fold.
First of all, tai chi is a wonderful form of exercise. It benefits
virtually anyone who can practice it. Some forms are easier to
learn than others, but all are designed to arrive at the destination
of greater health.
In the 1990's I practiced and played around with several different
styles of tai chi. Chen thunder-style, Yang, Wu, Chang and Chen
(without the thunder).
I enjoyed all of them. Yet, I found Chen Thunder-style to suit me
best. The only drawback to it was the scarcity of teachers in the U.S.
for this particular style.
Second, I like tai chi because the philosophy of daily practice
coincides with my belief about exercise. It's a good idea to
do something everyday. If your upper body is sore, go for
a walk. If your legs and upper body are sore, work on deep
breathing exercises - or do the Farmer Burns Stomach
Flattener - http://www.mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html
Third and most unfortunately, tai chi takes a long time to
learn. There are some styles that are easier to learn than
others, but to really experience the treasure- trove of
health benefits, you've got to devote a lot of time. And
that's nothing to fear. Afterall, I've gotten good at every-
thing I do by putting in more time than anyone else.
There are many people who have taken up the practice
of tai chi at age 40, 50, 60 and so on. And they have
benefitted enormously. Yet, they did what so many
people are unwiling to do. They practiced on a regular
basis.
I realize there are a lot of people over the age of 40
who are incredibly flabby, inflexible and weak - and
quite often it's due to injuries or accidents suffered
along the route of life. So, for these people, tai chi
as well as my best-selling Combat Conditioning system
may not the right program to begin with. It's too rough
for some people.
Yet there is an alternative that I also practice, even though
it's "soft" in nature. It's a system of loosening exercises, combined
with deep breathing and energy moves that is called The Chinese
Long-Life System - http://www.chineseculturesecrets.com/long_life.html
The Chinese Long-Life System is designed in such a way that the
sedentary critter who has spent a couple decades hibernating on
the sofa, can get up and do it and feel the benefits instantly.
You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to be strong. You
don't even need much endurance. All you need is the DESIRE to
improve yourself just a little bit. Do a minute of the exercises
and you won't want to stop.
Those who practice tai chi, chi kung, kung fu or any other martial
arts - will also love The Chinese Long-Life System because of its
ability to rejuvenate and revive your body/mind after hard training.
Not only that, but if you're a competitive animal, like me, the
exercises are the PERFECT warm-up to help you prevent
injuries.
The same goes for those who do Combat Conditioning, lift weights,
do tons of cardio, and so on. You need a boost. You need to take
care of the inside of your body - not just the outside.
I don't care how strong your muscles are or how much endurance
they have. If your internal organs begin to fail, you're in serious trouble.
This is the why The Chinese Long Life System is so incredibly powerful.
By working the pressure points and meridians of the body directly,
you increase the flow of qi in the body, which according to 5000 plus
years of recorded Chinese history, increases your health and helps
you live a longer, more fulfilling life.
At any rate, we've got another 117 copies of The Chinese Long-Life
System available at the current price. After these are sold the amount
will go up considerably.
So be sure to get in while the getting is really, really good.

P.S. On the following link you'll find a photo of me training in the

something, don't you think.
7 Keys to a Metabolism Makeover
Why is it that people who are overweight
take so long to enjoy results when on an
exercise program. And why is it that they
think they need to do long-distance cardio
and spend hours per day training.
You don't need to do things that way.
There's a way to accelerate your metabolism and
I'll lay it out for you in a minute, but first,
understand the following:
A. If you are investing a LOT of time each day
to kick-start your metabolism - you're doing
something wrong.
B. Long-slow cardio may make you feel good -
but if you want to "STEP UP" your metabolism,
you're far better off doing a very hard, very
vigorous workout that calls upon all your physical
and mental reserves. You're better off with a
short workout that will never get easy - no
matter how often you do it.
Consider the sprinter. He does not do long distance
cardio. Yet his body is lean AND muscular.
It is rare to find a long distance cardio person who
is well built. He may be lean, but there's no muscle
and usually very little power. Not only that, but after
a period of time - the long cardio workout person
may end up suffering from hip, knee, ankle and lower
back pain.
Why.
All the pounding on the joints. It takes a tremendous
toll on the body.
Instead of the long, slow, dull approach to fitness,
Consider the following seven ways to a Metabolism
Makeover.
1. Change the mental picture you have of yourself. All
lasting change in appearance begins in your mind. If
you want to look better, start seeing yourself the way
you'd like to look.
2. Place the majority of your mental focus on "the journey"
- the process you are following to get fit. This means you
are NOT continually thinking about reaching the mountain
top. Instead you're focused on each step along the way.
3. Begin doing vigorous full body body weight exercises that
force you to lose control of your breathing. If you aren't getting
out of breath when you train, your system is NOT being forced
to adapt and change very much. The harder you are breathing,
the more shock to the system. The more "shock" there is - the
greater the shake-up in your metabolism. The exercises in
Combat Conditioning - http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html
cause this to happen.
4. Instead of running or bicycling several miles per day to get
your cardio - do like the cheetah. Run as hard as you can, at
full blast, for as long as you can. Run with all your might.
When finished you want to be gasping for oxygen. You want
to feel like you have nothing left. In Combat Conditioning there
are a few sprint workouts you can follow to get you going with
this routine.
5. Practice deep breathing. The deeper you breathe the more
oxygen in your system. The more oxygen in your system, the
faster your metabolism.
6. Eat plenty of fiber rich, water-content foods while avoiding
starchy foods most of time.
7. Get plenty of sleep.
Keep these ideas in mind as you go through your day.

5 Second Abs for the Toilet
The other day I received an email from a 48-year
old man who complained of not being able to move
his bowels on a regular basis.
"The machine isn't working the way it used to. Maybe
I need some lubrication," he wrote. "Any exercises you
recommend for this situation. Or is this just something
I have to live with."
The answer: No, this is not something you have to live
with. Here is what you do:
1. Make a decision that you will regain healthy bowel
function.
You may think this an unnecessary step - yet I assure
you that trying to solve this issue without making a
decision to replace it with something better, leaves the
door wide open for a repeat performance of bad times.
2. Pay attention to the foods that are clogging your
pipes. Pizza, pasta, white flour, pastries, breads,
beans and other starches are often times interfering
with regularity.
3. Consume more fruits, vegetables and other high-
fiber foods.
4. Drink plenty of water.
5. Practice deep breathing exercises - especially those
in which you combine abdominal flexing with the breathing.
To learn how to do this properly, be sure to pick up a copy of
Combat Abs - http://mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html -
wherein I teach the Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener and
another exercise that helps blowtorch excise flab from your
waistline while also greatly improving your digestion.
People who thought I was joking about "the toilet" before
doing these exercises were totally surprised after they
tried them. Doing the deep breathing exercises in Combat
Abs is like having your hands on "Cosmic Fiber." And this
type of Fiber can be even more powerful than that which comes
from food.
You cannot exercise your abs the way I teach without
simultaneously giving your innards a deep and thorough
massage. And when your intestines get jostled and massaged,
they perform better - just like the muscles of your body.
There are many other benefits to doing the Farmer Burns
Stomach Flattener - which you can read about in the
1914 by-mail course put out by the Farmer himself, by
going to http://mattfurey.com/farmerburns.html - it's
part wrestling and part physical culture training - and
the info on the physical culture exercises is still valid
and worth its weight in platinum.
Even if you don't think you have an issue with moving
your bowels - you may be mistaken. Ask yourself, how
long after each meal do you typically move your bowels.
If you're not "getting up to go" 30 minutes after your meal,
then you better get your hands on Combat Abs -
http://mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html
Learn how to exercise and breathe in the certain way that
yield results - and your toilet will be back in business.

Forget Time Management
A lot of people use the term "time management" -
but there's really no such thing.
You cannot manage time - nor can you control it.
You can only choose to do or not do certain things.
That's it.
Sort of like the sun. You cannot manage or control
the sun - or the moon. But you can choose to be
outdoors in view of it - or indoors out of view.
You've probably become accustomed to hearing
other people (and quite possibly yourself) saying,
"There's not enough time in the day" or "I don't
have any time."
Since when are we the decider on how much time
there should be in each day. And how can you not
have any time.
Time and energy are all we have. You either use them
to the full - for things that matter to you - or you use
them for anything that grabs your attention at the
moment.
Saying "there's no time" is like saying "there's no muney."
There are always plenty of both. Depends on your view.
And not your view on the outside. It depends upon how
you see things on the inside.
The next time you think there's a shortage of time - or
think that you need to manage time - change your
mental picture to the following:
"I have time to do what is most important to me."
Now, you may be wondering if I have a "system" that
helps me get everything that's important to me done.
I sure do - and I can assure you it's not one of those
"planners" you see people lugging around.
If you're interested in learning my system of "Time
Useage" - drop a line and let me know.

Five Second Abs in the Shower
Last week I wrote about doing abdominal exercises while
at a stoplight or while flying across the country. Or from
country to country.
All you need to do is follow the advice of Farmer Burns
and spend 2-5 seconds flexing your abs in a certain way
whilst combining it with deep breathing. This alone can
change your midsection... and quickly, too.
Today I am going to reveal another place where you can
work your abs. And if you haven't already guessed the
'where and when' - let me make it crystal clear: it's the
shower.
Get under the shower, relax and let the water pour over y
our nekked body. Inhale deeply and give your abs the five
second treatment. Do it again and again. Ten reps of five
seconds per day will do wonders for your digestion, your
circulation, your energy, your overall health... and of perhaps
the greatest delight to you, your waistline.
This exercise really, really works. And how much time do you
need for it when you combine it with activities you're already
doing. I would think your body is worth five seconds of
exercise, don't you.
Be sure to get a copy of Combat Abs.

details down correctly.

My Wife Doesn't Believe It
Last night I received the following email from a
reader in India. It's got SUCCESS written all over
it. Read and see why:
Dear Matthew
I too would like to tell you my experience with my eight-year
old son, Mehul, in far away India.
In India we have a ranking system in school. Mehul stood
eighth rank in the first term exams. During that time i was
reading Psycho-Cybernetics and I trusted that this book
will surely make him leap to the first rank. So from the
very next day i asked him to meditate for only 10 minutes.
He was to visualize that the principal of the school called
out his name for the first rank and he was going ahead
to pick the trophy. i asked him visualize in vivid details
everything - the smile on his friends face, the standing
ovation he got etc.
He too believed in this idea and never missed a single day
of visualization. You won't believe it the class teacher called
and informed us just before the third term was to start that
Mehul has stood first in his class.
I would like to add that he still continues his visualization
without missing even a single day and his performance in
all the spheres has been top class. He was a timid introverted
boy and now people don't believe whether he is the same guy.
He is developing into a talented dancer when before he was
not able to stand in front of an audience.
i don't understand when it is so easy to make a eight year
old boy understand the power of visualization, the grown
ups are so skeptical and doubtful when I suggest this
technique. I feel they fear success more then anything
else.
My wife has seen this transformation but when i suggest
it to her turn to try this great method she does not seem
enthusiastic. It will be many more times more effective for
her but i am not able to convince her.
Matthew will you be able to help her.
Regards,
Manoj
MJF: Manoj, first off, I commend you for the positive influence
you are having on your son. Now that he is in the top rank it
is important to continually emphasize to him that the journey
is, in truth, more important than the rank. If he continually
puts forth his best effort, and does not need to be motivated
by external awards, if he is inspired rather than motivated, I
think you and he will both be all the better for it.
As for your wife, it is not your job to make sure she believes
everything you believe or that your son believes. Continue to
love her and support her even if she never opens to these
teachings. YOU and you alone are under your control. Your
son took to visualization because he wanted to. You've been
the guide - yet he could have refused to be open, too, if he
wanted.
If you always remember to ask yourself, when frustrated,
what is and what isn't under your control; what is and
what isn't your business - I believe you'll enjoy even more
moments of inner peace and happiness than you now
experience.
Best to you and your family. And thank you for writing to let
me know how everything is going with your son.

America, the Obese-iful
I love America. And I love American people.
I do have to admit, however, it's getting harder
and harder to wrap your arms around this
country and its people.
We used to call people fat. Now we use the
word 'obese." Very soon the word obese will
need replacing with something else that
describes us better.
The basic issue underlying all the fatness
is bad thinking followed by bad habits.
It begins with a lack of pride and a lack of
self-respect.
Instead of having a desire to be better today
than you were yesterday - people think they're
doomed to be worse tomorrow than they are today.
That's wrong thinking.
That's believing in death and disease more than life
and good health.
To counter the way of fatness and self-pity, begin
with your thinking. Begin imagining yourself to be
better than you are right now. Say to yourself, "Today,
I'm going to give it everything I've got. I'm going to do
my best."
Then, instead of lazing on the couch - you make an
appointment with yourself to exercise each day.
You do something each and every day to challenge yourself.
In doing so you improve yourself in ALL areas of your life. When
your body is in better condition, you think faster, you get more done,
you're happier, healthier - and no, I'm not kidding, wealthier.
Some time ago, after doing the Royal Court, as shown in my
international best-seller, Combat Conditioning (to order go
to http://mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html } I went out-
side to jump some rope. I hadn't jumped in quite a while so
I set a modest goal of 1,000 jumps - using a rope I call -
"the green monster" - which is much heavier than the
standard ropes.
Now, 1,000 jumps with this rope is no easy task. It blitzes
your entire body - including your grip, forearms, shoulders
and so on.
When I got to 200 jumps the thought of quitting entered my
mind. But I knew I had more in me, so after a break, I continued.
I kept pushing myself until I finished all 1,000 jumps. I looked
at my stop watch. 15:34.
The next evening I went outdoors and did the same workout. I
cranked out 200, then took a quick rest. Then did 100. Another
quick rest. 50 more. And so on.
I pushed myself to do better than I did the day before. And when
I knocked out the 1,000th repetition, the stop watch read: 12:05.
Today, beating either of these numbers is easy.
Now, in case you think I'm impressed with this, I'm not. My focus
is on giving my workout everything I've got. Somedays I may not
be able to jump as fast as others. Or I may be much faster. The
real issue is how hard did I try in each workout. My focus is on
THIS WORKOUT - to-DAY.
Many people set goals that are "result driven." This means they want
to get to a certain weight - or be able to do a selected number of
pushups or pull-ups.
It's good to have result goals. But it's also good to have "being" goals.
The focus is on WHO you are going to BE when you train - not on what
you are going to get. Your mind is on the journey - not the destination.
Afterall, if the journey is more important than the "end" - then why so
much focus on the end.
Why not have the beginning and end of your journey be the same. The
circle that meets - no beginning - no end.
Focus your mind on the journey - on being totally in the moment in
this workout.
Give it everything you've got. And watch the results stack higher than
ever before.

What We're Teaching Kids Today
The other day, John, a member of my Psycho-Cyb
coaching program, sent me the following note:
Matt,
My 9 year old grandson has been having some trouble
in school over the last few months. My wife and daughter
were offering the usual threats/incentives. I took a different
tack. I told him that every morning when he gets out of bed
to imagine he is holding a HUGE report card that fills the room
and that there are A's and B's on it.
Also, that there's all sorts of people who want to high five
him for the good grades. And to jump around the room
high fiving all those people. You should see the smile
on his face as he thinks about it.
Friday, I go over to his house to pick him up for the
weekend and right away he pulls me over to show
me his work book for the week. He says "Papa, I've
been magining."
And the papers he showed me ALL SHOW IMPROVEMENT.
Matt, I love this little boy more than I've loved anyone
in the whole world. There's no words that allow me to
thank you enough for teaching me how to help him.
John
MJF: John, the pleasure is all mine. What we teach young
children is incredibly important. And as you've said, it
all starts in the 'magination.
Let me tell you a similar story with my son, Frank.
On Saturday Frank was getting ready for his
final soccer game of the year. It's his first year in this
sport while many of the other kids in the league are
already in their third and fourth season. So Frank has
had a lot of catching up to do.
Before Saturday's game, for the entire season, Frank
had only scored three goals. I told Frank that this number
was nothing to be ashamed of. Most important was that
he try his hardest; that he put forth his best effort, win or
lose, every time he plays.
Then I told him that the three goals he'd made were successful
experiences he could draw energy from and re-create,
over and over.
He asked how, so I guided him through a very quick
visualization, reliving the three goals he made. Then
I told him to imagine scoring one goal after another.
He did this for five minutes or so.
That was it.
Well, guess what happened in the game. Frank scored
a goal.
But not just one goal.
And not just two.
He scored THREE goals in the same game.
Young children's minds are wide open to the power of
suggestion. When you teach them how to imagine, how
to visualize, the results can come FAR, FAR FASTER than
adults who are skeptical and filled with doubt and fear.
Reminds me of the Bible passage on how we must become
like little children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Lombardi Philosophy
Earlier today I came across the following that I want
to share with you:
"One of the first self-help books I ever read was Psycho-
Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz. It had a profound
effect on me, and I was pleasantly surprised when I
found a copy of the book - underlined and dog-eared
- in my father's library after he passed away. I'm convinced
that many of the concepts and ideas that formed my father's
coaching philosophy - including focusing on the successful
effort while putting an error quickly out of mind - came from his
reading of Psycho-Cybernetics."

Hey, I Made a Mistake
One of the things that separates what I teach and what
Dr. Maltz taught about "mind power" is the importance
of making mistakes.
If you read the words of so many of today's "thinkers" on
subjects like the Law of Attraction - you'll find that there
is rarely any talk about mistakes or failure.
People then develop the notion that if they're making mistakes
or failing - that they're "attracting" it. In some cases this is most
definitely true.
But you've got to look at the bigger picture to see the bigger
truth.
Mistakes are HOW we learn everything we know. From learning
to crawl, walk, run, talk and feed ourselves. We make mistakes
and correct course until the only thing your brain remembers
is the "right" way to do something.
You learned to write by making mistakes.
You learn to become a great athlete the same way.
Getting back to the metaphor Dr. Maltz so ably used - missile
technology - a torpedo is "off target" most of the time on the
way to its pre-programmed destination.
So are you and that's the way it's supposed to be. That's the
way you succeed.
And so, if you're afraid of making mistakes - if you keep yourself
from doing because you're worried you may do the wrong thing -
then take comfort in the words of Elbert Hubbard, who said:
"The greatest mistake a man can make is to be afraid of making
one."
Oh, how true.
This does not mean that you deliberately make mistakes. You'll make
plenty without trying to do so. But when you make a mistake, instead
of whining or pouting about it, make a note and determine how to
correct course. Most importantly, keep moving.
On top of the above, rejoice when you make a mistake. You're now
one or more steps closer to your goal.
Matthew Furey
P.S. All TRUMP CARDS are being mailed this weekend. My apologies
for the delay. The first rendition of this special report was 4400
words. When I received it from Vinnie, the guy who laid it out for
me, I read it and declared it "not good enough yet." There was so
much more I wanted to say. This, to me, was a mistake. I gladly
got back to the piece and when I made the final period, it was
7990 words. Almost double. The result of me catching my mistake
brought forth something a whole lot better. Hope you feel the
same way - http://psycho-cyb.com/trump_card.html
6 New Books in 2008
Earlier this year I set a goal to have three new
books written and published this year. I now
realize this goal was far too wimpy - so
yesterday I upgraded to six.
Although I'm not ready to reveal the titles of each
of these books just yet - I will tell you they run the
gamut from physical fitness to self-realization/
development to wrestling to Internet marketing.
Two - and quite possibly three of the six will be
ready by May.
Anyway, that's the latest from Furey Central.
What about YOU.
Are you moving forward in 2008 - setting goals for
yourself - and making sure you fulfill them.
If not, consider this: The average person watches
1669 hours of television per year. Divide this by
24 and you have 69.54 days spent before the
idiot box.
Or, put another way, the average person spends
4.57 hours per day watching other people who
are achieving their goals.
Don't see what I'm saying about watching t.v as
100 percent wrong. Some television is a good
thing - me thinks. At the same time, 4,57 hours
a day is out of control. And that is the "average."
Some people spend 8-10 or more hours per day
before the box.
Today my son has a day off from school. He grabbed
the control and turned on the t.v. around 8 a.m. I
immediately let him know he was not going to spend
the whole day before the set. I told him to turn it off.
He did.
At the end of today he's going to be able to say he
accomplished something.
When you watch tee-vee - what can you say you
accomplished.
All of this is important because the masses will tell you
they are busy, that they don't have time to workout,
to pursue a new career, to learn a foreign language,
to read, and so on.
As for myself, I rarely have time to watch tee-vee. I
rarely have time to read the newspapers. I rarely have
any idea whatsoever about what is going on in the
"world."
I am continually looking at what I've gotten done lately.
Are you.
The greatest joy in life comes from creating something
new; bringing something into being that didn't exist
before.
I've done a fair amount of creating over the last 12 years -
but there is so much more to do. And I'm "on it."
Take time to think about what you'd like to create in this
lifetime. Put it in writing - then get started doing it.

Daddy, What's a Politician
My son, Frank, asked, "Daddy, what's a
politician.
I replied: "Well, do you want the dictionary
definition or the real definition."
"The real definition," said Frank.
"Okay, no problem. The real definition of a
politician is: A legalized criminal, usually
a lawyer by trade, who smiles a lot, makes tons
of promises he or she has no intention of keeping,
who steals from the people he's supposed to protect,
and makes decisions that usually are in direct opposition
to the will of the people. And a politician is a person whom
people place hope in with no due cause."
What does the above have to do with health and
fitness.
A lot.
First, if you make promises to YOURSELF and to those whom you
love - then KEEP those promises.
If you tell yourself and your spouse that you're going to lose some
weight, that you're going to regain your pre-nuptial form - then
DO IT. Don't pretend. Get the job done.
Bob, a friend of mine, had a drinking problem. He realized it
was destroying his life and his family's. So he told his wife
and children that he would never drink again. And if he were
to break his promise, he would eat a can of Alpo dog food off
the cement floor in his garage.
He handed his family a can of dog food to seal his promise.
Bob hasn't touched a drop of booze in over ten years.
Read my lips. Bob's promise is one no politician would ever make.
Second, in regard to your health, you place no hope in anyone
but yourself. Yes, I am all for hiring coaches and investing in
books and courses that steer you in the right direction. But
make no mistake about it - YOU must follow the program with
all your mental and physical might. You have others around to
help you - but YOU are still the one who is ultimately responsible
for how you do.
Advice from a coach can be invaluable. I know the things I learned
from Dan Gable and the many, many other coaches I have had and
still have, still lives with me to this day. Even so, I still have to show
up for practice and give it everything I've got.
Third, all humor aside, it is a good idea to watch politicians and
study their every move. Smiling is a good idea. It makes you happy,
healthier and more likable, even if you're faking it.
Fourth, politicians who are super fat have a tough time getting
elected. Sure, there are exceptions ... Teddy ... but not many.
When you're fit - you present a better image to the world.
Sadly, right now Americans present an awful image to the rest of
the world. We're a laughing stock not just because of our politicians -
but because we're fatter than hell - yet we're still starving.
Oddly enough, we're not starving for success. We're not starving with
a burning desire to make something spectacular of ourselves.
Huh uh. We're starving for more comfort. And our desire for more
comfort is not only putting us in graves faster - it's putting us
into a state of lethargy and complacency wherein we're laid
wide open and vulnerable to an attack.
The attack I'm talking about is not a "terrorist attack." It's an
attack on everything good we used to do that we're no longer
doing.
It's an attack of forgetfulness. Forgetting what makes people
win; what makes them great.
And what makes people great is really quite simple.
One, you have a goal; a vision for your life.
Two, you breathe life into this vision by thinking about it all
the time.
Three, you get off your ass and move toward your goal.
Four, you don't pout or whine when things get tough.
You expect to suffer and you willingly do so, if necessary,
to reach your target.
Five, you expect to make mistakes and you are glad when
you do because they're the feedback you need to reach
your goal.
Six, you great each day with gratitude and enthusiasm, even
when times are tough.
Seven, you end each day the same way.
Eight, when you've succeeded, you help pull others up the
ladder with you - not by doing everything for them, not by
praise when it's unmerited - but by getting them to do the
same things you did to get where you are.
Ask yourself, are you doing the above in your life. Are you
still hungry to make something great happen in your life.
Or are you content to plop yourself before the tee-vee or
computer screen and lose yourself in everyone else's
affairs.
Start moving your body each morning and you'll be amazed
at how everything else starts snapping into place.

miles often gets elected. It doesn't guarantee he'll be

someone who's moving.
Eliminate Hand and Wrist Pain NOW
10 years ago next month I was in Minneapolis at
the NCAA wrestling championships.
All throughout the weekend my wrist hurt. And I
didn't know why.
I didn't fall on it. I didn't tweak it working out. It
just hurt - for no particular reason - and the pain
was driving me up a wall. Mostly because I had a
lot of writing to do and it hurt to do it.
While at the tournament I met an old wrestler who
showed me a simple exercise that strengthened
his grip considerably.
I did the exercise as I was taught and the very
same day the irritating ache went away.
The next day, however, the pain returned. So
I did the exercise again - and the same thing
happened. My pain went bye, bye.
The following day the pain came back once more -
and by now you can probably guess what I did.
That's right. I did the same simple exercise.
But in this instance the third time was a charm. The
pain went away for good.
As a result of this I began to look into other ways to
strengthen my hands and wrists - mostly to make
me a more effective martial artist. During my
annual trips to my vacation home in China I scoured
the country for the best exercises I could find. And
upon my return one summer, I began teaching a whole
system of exercises that hit every area of the hands and wrists -
and these exercises not only strengthened all the weak links
in the hands - they also strengthened the rest of your body -
including your mind.
What happened was truly remarkable. People who
slept in braces - or wore them during the workday -
were able to discard them for the first time in
months.
Other people who thought they needed surgery -
were able to forego it.
Quite remarkable, don't you think.
My friend, pain in the hands and wrists is a big, big
problem today - and grip training gadgets - for the most
part - aggravate it further.
In China I have researched and studied the best hand
exercises ever conceived - exercises from kung fu and
chi kung. And the vast majority of these incredibly powerful
exercises nothing other than your own hands and a soft, pliable
rubber device shaped like a donut - or a thin piece of string.
That's it.
Once again, just like animals in the wild, the key to strength
in your hands comes, primarily, from using your own body
weight.
Other than that, all you need are the proper exercises, (those
that open the meridians of the body) deep breathing and
concentration. The positive effect of doing the right exercises
with concentration and deep breathing is nothing less than
stunning.
I have personally trained with a master who can plow through
cement blocks with the inside of his finger. His fingers are so powerful
you'd think each digit to be a sword. Does he use expensive gadgets
to build this type of power. No.
He simply does the right type of exercises with concentration and
deep breathing.
More often than you realize, hand and wrist and elbow and
shoulder pain stems from a blockage in chi flow. The
meridians of the body are damned up with negative
stress - and this negative energy won't be released
via surgery or using a bunch of mechanical devices.
The key to releasing the trapped energy is, once again,
the right exercises, proper concentration and deep breathing.
You get all three of the above in my course for eliminating
hand, wrist, elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome pain.
Order now by going to http://carpaltunnelfix.com

P.S. Even if you don't have carpal tunnel syndrome, you'll

Why Eli and the Giants Won
The Giants had the ball. Eli Manning was in position,
ready to take the first hand-off of the game.
I'd seen all I needed to see.
I called my brother, Sean.
"Patriots are in trouble. Did you see Manning's eyes."
"Sure did."
"This guy won't be beaten."
Sean agreed.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter I watched
Tom Brady walk off the field. Not the cool,
calm, collected Brady he normally is when he
has all day to set up his passes.
I called Sean again.
"Did you see Brady."
"I did."
"His cage is rattled, huh."
"Sure is."
"Whenever you see pouting and whining - you know
the tide has definitely turned - no matter what the
score. Another bad sign for the Patriots."
Minutes later Brady marched the Pats down the
field for the go-ahead score.
My son cheered wildly.
"Don't celebrate too early," I said. "The game isn't
over."
Eli put on his helmet and took the field. As he did so
you could feel his absolute belief and total conviction. He
would not be beaten.
And then the "miracle" pass.
Not the Immaculate Reception - but doggone close.
The game was just as well as over. In fact, it was
over before it started.
Forget the score. Forget who was in the lead for
what amount of time. Just watch the eyes of the
quarterbacks. Read the face. It'll tell you all you
need to know.
Despite winning three previous Super Bowls; despite
guiding the Patriots to an almost perfect season -
the fact is Brady didn't want to win as much as Eli
Manning and the Giants. He wasn't AS hungry.
So much of success is nothing more than
"staying hungry." It's all about DESIRE.
Who wants it the most.
Twas a painful lesson I learned, more than once,
as a competitive wrestler.
Today, as a success coach, I can tell who is ready for
success and who isn't.
Some are ready when the game begins - but
after things get a little rough and "the game"
isn't as easy as you'd hoped - if you take the
person's "vision pulse" - you may find it has
dimmed significantly.
I see this all the time.
I see it in the eyes and on the face. And what I see
BEGINS in the other person's mind.
Wanting to win is a feeling that vibrates from
every cell in your brain and body. Even if
you say you want to win - whenever you lose
you can point to the other guy and say, "Well,
he must have wanted to win MORE."
That was the story last night. And it's the story
every day of our lives.
Winning isn't about physical strength. It isn't
about who has the strongest hands, arms,
legs, neck or abs - although physical strength
most certainly help.
It isn't about who is fastest or most skilled, either -
even those these qualities also help.
It's about WHO wants it most. It's about who
has the strongest MENTAL MUSCLES.
Your mind is and always will be the most important
muscle on and off the field.
Those who have played the game at the highest
levels and have emerged victorious understand
this. Those who have merely played - don't.
In short, Eli Manning played his TRUMP CARD
yesterday.
As someone who has won several national titles
and a world championship, I know what it's like
to play your TRUMP. I also know how to play it
in any endeavor you're involved in.
Do you.
If not, I strongly suggest you click the following

Did they jinx themselves - or is this mere superstition.
Better yet - did they have a success ritual that they

Five Second Abs for Breakfast
One of the great things about Combat Abs is that
the main exercise, The Farmer Burns Stomach
Flattener, which is frequently done before breakfast,
doesn't take much time. Just 10 repetitions or so -
and the rigorous part of the exercise lasts only
2-5 seconds.
Always remember to follow the instructions in the book -
http://www.mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html
There are two other times when doing The Farmer
Burns Stomach Flattener (for info on the Farmer
Burns course on physical culture and wrestling go to
http://www.mattfurey.com/farmerburns.html )
- is appropriate (actually there are many).
The first is whilst sitting at a stop light.
Here in Tampa, you can easily hammer out five to
ten quick 5-second reps at a red light.
The other perfect time is when flying the friendly
skies. Once you've been in the air a couple hours
and want to wake up - and tone up - take your deep
breath and get flexing.
Each day look in the mirror and 'behold the difference.'
It truly is remarkable.
Kick butt - take names,

No More Monkeys
Next time you feel like you're being assaulted
with "things to do" - take a moment to consider
the following:
a. You'll get more done faster if you focus on one
thing at a time.
Picture the surgeon. He performs one operation
after another, all day long. He doesn't think about
the NEXT surgery while doing the first. If he does
he'll botch the job he's on.
b. When you feel pressure to get "everything" done -
take a moment to focus on the area between your
neck and shoulder blades - your "traps." This is
where a lot of tension is stored.
Let's take the time to release it.
You've probably heard people talking about needing
to get the "monkeys off their back."
Well, you get them off your back by focusing on
one thing at a time - and anytime you feel pressure
rising, you catch yourself, take a deep breath and
focus on your upper neck and back.
Feel any monkeys.
If so, change your mental picture. Take them off.
I assure you the monkeys are slowing you down.
They are NOT helping you move faster. They are not
helping you get things done.
The best way to get things done is to make a list
of what you have to do before you begin. Then
take a few moments to breathe deeply and relax.
See yourself getting the first thing done. Then
the next.
See yourself doing all these things without pressure,
without tension - without a single monkey.
Once you've accomplished the first thing on your list,
then "clear the computer screen."
Let your mind go blank. Compartmentalize.
Now see the next thing being accomplished. Center
and focus. Then hop to it and do it.
True, you might think juggling three things at once is the
key to getting things done.
You might think that feeling overwhelmed, slammed,
swamped and beaten bloody are better ways to ponder
your daily "to do list."
I don't think so.
Take a moment to visualize all the stress monkeys on
your back. Then see all of them going away. See yourself
totally focused and totally relaxed - in the flow.
I challenge you to do this.
Stop scratching your head. Relax, smile, breathe and
focus.
Do this for the next thing on your list today. Then on
the next. And so on. See how many things you can
knock out in a spirit of calm and relaxation.
I'm betting you'll be surprised.
