The Dunkin' Donuts Workout

Last month Dunkin' Donuts in the Tampa area gave out free coffee. And guess what happened?

Free-loaders visited in droves. They didn't buy a freakin' thing. Nothing. Just took the coffee and ran.

I was told this by a couple people who witnessed this.

I said: "You mean they didn't require that the visitor be a customer in order to get the coffee?"

"Unfortunately, NO," he said. "And they took advantage in a big way."

"No kiddiing?" I replied.

"It's a sign of the times," he said. "We're now living in a something for nothing society."

"Well, there's one good thing about what DD did," I said.

"What's that?" he asked.

"At least them didn't give them donuts."

He laughed.

"And one good thing," I said. "People at DD don't congregate in droves and hang out all day, sitting on their rumps, typing on lap tops and fiddling with a crack berry."

For the most part, they grab their coffee, their donuts or their multi-grain bagels and run.

Change Your Pace

One of the best things you can do when you exercise is vary the pace at which you do things.

Sometimes you train as fast as you can - provided you can do so with good form. You run hill sprints; you skip rope; you crack out a set of powerful pushups.

Some times you train at a moderate speed, with walking, swimming, bear crawling or duck waddling.

At other times you train at a slow or even a super slow speed. You concentrate on the FEEL of the exercise - inside your body as well as in your muscles.

And just for the thrill of it, you even train at no speed, i.e. holding specific postures for time while focusing on your breathing and the flow of energy.

Recently I taught a group of men and women my "No Rep Workout."

That's right. NO REPS.

Simply get into a horse stance or the wall chair position and hold for time while breathing in a certain way.

Then get into pushup position and hold yourself in the half-way down position.

After this get into a back bridge (sometimes mistakenly referred to as a 'neck' bridge). As you hold this position, focus on your breathing and stay relaxed. Feel your legs, your hips and buttocks, your lower and middle back, your neck as well as your abdominals get the workout of their life.

These three exercises, as well as the others I teach in Combat Conditioning, have the power to change your physique/figure very, very fast. In fact, they can work so well that you may feel as if you turned fat into muscle - which we've been told is a biological impossibility.

Turns Fat Into Muscle

Have you ever heard that once a fit person stops working out, all his muscle will turn to fat?

Barefoot Success

Free Health Care Tip #2

Two days ago I told you about the dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup. I told you that this sweetener is not only responsible for a massive rise in the number of diabetics - but NOW, mercury had been found in it.

Mercury - a toxic metal that dentists told us was no problem as they used it to fix our teeth.

Why? Because most people don't yet know that cadmium is ALSO a toxic metal that poisons the human body.

Yes, I understand you don't want to get sick. You don't want the flu. So what to do?

Load up with garlic, ginger, honey and other totally natural foods that nuke free radicals in your body instantly.

And stop putting things in your body that reduce your ability to ward off disease. Teach your children to read labels. Help them recognize the words 'high fructose corn syrup." Free Health Care Tip #1

The Un-Happy H-ook-er

Oh my ... what a reaction I got to yesterday's email on 5 Second Abs.

A number of you wrote to say 'right on Matt - that Farmer Burns exercise does work like magic.'

Yet, one woman just didn't get it. She wrote a long email, with photos of herself enclosed, wearing a very, very, very short black skirt, pulled way way up - showing off her abs - and a bit more. Her head was cropped off the photos for some reason - which was strange.

I won't give her email address but let's just say, when you see it you'll think of only one word - and it starts with an 'h' and ends with an 'ooker.'

I guess her point was this: Look Furey, I worked 'hard' for this body. I'm the type of person who does 30 minutes of abdominal exercise per day (as well as some extracurricular activities) ... and 'look at me. Don't tell me that I wasted time each day looking this way.'

The truth is this: Your muscles respond to stimulus. And when it comes to your abdominals, they respond to stimulus that is vigorous. Doing a 30-minute ab workout can be tough - but the whole point of trainingthat long is to get to the point where your abs contract and tighten at the highest level possible.'

So what if, instead of a 30-minute ab workout, you simply did a deep breathing exercise, focused your mind and 'without moving' your whole body, consciously contracted the muscles you're trying to work? And what if, when doing this, you FEEL the muscle working at a level you've never felt it before?

And what if you started the program today, took your waist measurement and wrote it down?

And what if 30 days later you lost several inches of flab off your waist from this method?

As for myself, I have a lot more going on in my life than 'my workout.' I would hope you can say the same.
