Today’s subject line comes from the first paragraph in Gama Fitness.
To quote the entire sentence: “Failure to heed this lesson or thinking that this is just fluff, filler or “below you” is a sure sign that you are ignorant of the most important exercise in existence.”
When the grand majority of fitness coaches are asked what the most valuable exercise is, they fill in the blank with something ridiculous, such as “deadlifts.”
Deadlifts? Really? That’s the best? Please ‘splain that one to me.
Well, uh, deadlifts like activate more muscle groups than like squats or bench press. Plus, uh, you’re like pulling something that’s on the ground, and uh, you’re like lifting it up off the ground, ya know what I’m saying?
I follow your line of reasoning, dummkoph. It would be hard to top your nonfunctional suggestion. Think of it. Load a long-ass barbell with a bunch of weights, squat and pull. Hmmm. That’s functional? Hardly. Unless you have a functional job that requires you to lift automobiles off people who are trapped beneath the tires, I think deadlifting with a barbell is dumber than the dumbest.
There are ways to make a deadlift mega-functional and useful, but a barbell ain’t one of them.
Even so, even if doing deadlifts in the way I would recommend, they still don’t come close to the exercise I reveal in Lesson One of Gama Fitness.
I know a few elite strongmen who could tell you what the exercise is, but chances are they aren’t going to let that cat out of the hat.
el Furecat, on the other hand, not only let’s the feline out, he calls on the dawgs, too.
