Last night, the beginning of Aaron Rodgers dream season with the Jets turned into a nightmare.
On his fourth play of the game, the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback got sacked by Bills defensive end, Leonard Floyd. Rodgers sat on the field waiting for trainers to assist him. He left the field, the game and the stadium.
An MRI this morning confirmed what everyone connected to the Jets feared. Rodgers is out of the season – and there’s a good chance, the 39-year old will never play another down of football.
It’s sad to see something such as this happen to a great athlete. Or to anyone, for that matter.
A ruptured Achilles tendon is not something you would ever wish on anyone. Yet, this injury confirms what I’ve been saying for over 20 years. The majority of severe injuries are not to the muscles. Most injuries are tendons that tear, get severed, or rupture.
This is why I continually stress that a strength training and conditioning program that exclusively focuses on the muscles, is doomed.
Weight training and lifting has its benefits – but it also has major detriments, namely, shortening and tightening of the muscles and tendons instead of lengthening and strengthening them.
Instead of shorter and tighter, set a goal to be longer and stronger.
This is positive situation you create when you follow the exercises I teach in Power Postures. You stretch and strengthen from the inside out. You make your body more elastic, more pliable, more resistant to injury.
You learn to recharge, recover and rejuvenate.
If you have aches and pains you want to put into the trash bin, I encourage you to read about what happened to the strongest Russian weightlifter in history. A man who hoisted more weight overhead than anyone in the world, winning two Olympic gold medals.
His body was invincible and supposedly “bullet-proof.
It wasn’t.

P.S. By the way, my Power Postures Seminar in Kalispell, Montana, from October 5-7, is almost full. I have room for two more people who already have the basic course. If you are interested in participating in this “stronger and longer” event, email me here.
