Bear Attacks in Japan Break World Record
Bears attacks are on the rise once again in Japan, where they have established a new world record this year.
As of October 11, 2025, NHK states that this year alone there have been 220 “reported” bear attacks leading to 13 deaths, and they didn’t even begin counting until April, as that is the beginning of a new fiscal year.
This number of bear attacks is also staggering because they exceed the rest of the world combined.
Japanese citizens were horrified to learn that bears, unlike other wild animals, prefer their meals raw, or sushi-style.
“Bears are not like mountain lions. They begin eating even while their prey is alive,” noted a tai chi master and anonymous nomad from the mountains of Hokkaido, where many bear attacks have taken place.
“The practice of Tai Chi not only helps you become one with nature,” he continued, “I believe it helps ward off bears. When they see me practicing, it’s like a bell going off. They go after another food source. And as much as I hate to say it, that’s probably a good thing.”

Although the practice of Tai Chi is no guarantee of safety while in bear territory, I believe it helped me last June in Alaska, where I encountered plenty of grizzly bears that, thank God, were already well fed. In some ways I view Tai Chi as an invisible firearm that rides along seamlessly with a real one. It helps you remain calm. Either way, to stay safe you always want to be inside a mobile, flexible, powerful and usable body. My Badass Tai Chi course will give it to you. The fee for this course is going up again soon. Jump on this NOW or run the risk of feeling cornered in a weak body forever.
