Q: Matt, what do you think about the Biblical reference to “the land of milk and honey?” Could this be a subtle endorsement of them as superfoods? A lot of people condemn both milk and honey as being really bad for your health. Do you have any thoughts to the contrary?
A: Here’s my stand on the “land of milk and honey.” Pasteurized milk is not good for you as it destroys the lactase enzyme that allows for proper digestion of the lactose component in milk.
Many who are proclaimed to be “lactose intolerant” are amazed when they test and find they can tolerate milk when it is raw and unpasteurized.
As for honey, there are those nutritionasstas who deem it “nothing but sugar.”
My response to them is, “Does sugar have vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and phytonutrients?”
This question ought to wake them up, but instead it makes them even more oughtistic.
Sourcing and the brand are key.
For raw milk I deal directly with a farmer. As for honey, I don’t consume any ole type of honey as a lot of these brands will add high-fructose corn syrup to maximize profits and minimize any health benefits. Most of the honey I consume comes from certified Manuka companies.
I appreciate the question. You now know my stand about the brand.
Keep in mind I’m not telling you what to do or what to eat or who to believe. You’ll want to do your own research and if you’re so inclined, be your own scientist. This means you test and see for yourself, rather than relying on or believing in someone else’s “science,” which is often myth-leading.
