Can you relax for two minutes?
Funny question, eh?
But the truth is that after the age of four, most people never experience the thrill of true relaxation ever again. Over the years, our bodies get filled with more and more mind-body tension. I gotta do this. I hafta do that.
In my training over the years, I search for methods that aren’t MAD. I look for and participate in activities that increase strength, flexibility and power while fostering greater relaxation.
The two appear to be unrelated, yet they aren’t.
When you witness the greatest athletes and martial artists pulling off phenomenal plays or maneuvers, you are witnessing poetic license in motion. You are seeing someone who is so damn good that the movements appears effortless.
The hallmark of a professional is someone who makes his or her job look easy.
You wouldn’t want a surgeon operating on you who has unsteady hands, would you? So why go through life filled with unnecessary tension?
Tension not only begets more tension, it leads to inflammation and inflammation leads to pain.
How much more could you do with your body-mind if you were pain free? I am guessing, A LOT.
