Back in 1999, when I first spoke at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio, I brought the house down when I said, “What does it matter if you’re flexible enough to kick someone in the head, but you don’t have enough power in the kick to knock him out?”
Flexibility for its own sake is rooted in stupidity.
Being long and strong, however, is a brilliant way to think about flexibility.
Yes, you want to be able to do the splits, to bridge, to move with effortless ease – but you want to be powerful as you move.
Strong, fast and flexible like a tiger is a good motto. Range of motion without strength is undesirable.
In short, you don’t want a tofu body.
You want a body that personifies the “iron wrapped in cotton” adage. On the outside you are relaxed and at ease – but internally, you are a steel spring ready to expand in an instant.
There are some people who are so flexible they’ve done their bodies a disservice.
They can twist and contort and put their limbs into unthinkable positions, but this doesn’t help them if someone gives one of those limbs a hard tug.
If you want flexibility that allows you to move through life with easy strength, that allows you to kick and punch and throw with POWER, and so without hurting yourself, then I have good news for YOU.
The above, and much more, is what you will learn and practice in my Combat Stretching DVDs.
Unlike the majority of stretching programs that focus on getting pliability in your legs, my Combat Stretching DVDs goes a step further, helping you get limber in your spine, which last time I checked, is still most important.
Isn’t it?
Here endeth the lesson.

By the way, if you have no intention of improving your fitness or flexibility, but you’re impressed with my email copywriting and are covertly spying on me, I strongly suggest you come out from behind the bushes and learn from me the old-fashioned way. This means that I strongly suggest you become a bonafide member of my monthly Zen Mastery Info-Publishing Group – so you can learn precisely how it’s down straight from el Furecat’s mouth (and pen).
